  1. Have to agree with you on this one Sweet Lou. Way too much writing on the cover is distracting my eyes, and the ink smudging from this pen looks extremely bad. I don't mind a small, well placed and clear signature, but these hand written messages from Stan on the cover don't do it for me
  2. I feel it's one of the best looking BA covers out there! And I'm happy with my 9.6
  3. Congrats on the sales and great books for the winnahs!
  4. Congrats on the pick-up! That is a great looking copy
  5. Not sure how anyone can take a PGX 10.0 seriously?! The company has little credibility in the industry. Their so-called resto expert thinks Ditko had been signing with a silver sharpie
  6. Beautiful books! Congrats on the pick-ups and gotta love the ped
  7. Sorry to hear about your X-Men #1. That is frustrating and one of the big risks in collecting raw books. Especially if you are dealing with restoration that is very slight, professionally done, and nearly undetectable, and you happen to miss it when assessing the comic's condition
  8. Have to admit, it is a very interesting name
  9. Don't know much about this character, and curious what is the strong attraction regarding this pre-hero monster? Is there something that separates it from the other various monsters that were being introduced at this time? Very cool looking cover though, looks like it's gotta be a Kirby creation!!
  10. Old label beauty! Got a hunch if you re-subbed that #4 you might looking at a 9.2
  11. It's very difficult to tell from the bc. You might have to look at it from another angle to get a better feel for it. If the cut looks ultra sharp and clean and there is absolutely no overhang, then I might be suspicious too. Here's an example of what I'm talking about... Incredibly hard to tell from pictures alone though. But whatever you do, don't stop posting them, they are amazing copies!!!
  12. The upper edge on the #9 might give me some concerns, as you mention. The edge appears quite razor sharp and I'm not used to seeing that on most early Spidey's. Have you ever had any past transactions with a guy by the name of Jason Ewert? He was notorious for micro-trimming back in the day, and who knows what he's up to nowadays? Still incredibly gorgeous books pickycollector and love checking them out!! And have you ever had thoughts of subbing to CGC and seeing what grades these raws would attain?? Here's my #9...
  13. Those are without question two of my fav covers!
  14. I love reading about these pedigree stories! It's fascinating to learn how these collections came about and how they survived in such amazing condition over the years. I'm especially intrigued with the Green River pedigree, where two very young brothers began acquiring and hoarding comics in the early 60's from their father's drugstore! I mean how many "young teenagers" at that time were meticulously collecting and storing high grade books (and even picking up multiple copies of certain issues!) with thoughts of their future re-sale value?! They were well ahead of their time!! And the story of how the books came to market is just as interesting:
  15. That book looks gorgeous! Colors are really popping and one of my favorite Ditko cover's! Congrats on the pick up
  16. What a sweet book! Always enjoyed this cover for some strange reason, digging DD's old costume
  17. Beautiful books and nice symmetry!! Congrats on the pick-ups
