  1. This isn't a comic but is insanely cool. It's a custom Alex Ross Batman 12" figure I bought on eBay. My digital camera is broken so I had to use the image for another auction, but it's the same one with box. This is by far the greatest Batman toy I've ever owned. Also, I think there is another one on eBay. It is worth the money if you have it.

    Hey Bill...with all seriousness...congrats! thumbsup2.gif

I know Action #1 is "the big book" for the hobyy, but for me, it is Tec 27.

This IMO is the grail of all grails.

    Superman couldn't hold Batman's jockstrap !

    gossip.gif but Robin could

Sorry, you have that wrong. Robin holds what goes in the jock strap!

  4. Don't slab the book. It displays well and CGCs restoration check is not the end all be all of whether a book is restored or not. A don't remember specific examples off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure some one complained about them missing restoration. If someone remembers please refresh all our memorues. They do a good job and it is great for selling books, but for a private collection piece it's not worth it. That is to me of course.

  5. I would take the Batman over both without hesitation, even though it looks like it was pressed.

I was thinking the same thing about it being pressed. I think 50 years from now that Batman 1 will still be historically significant, but I'm not sure if the FF1 will mean as much except to collectors. I thing AF15 is the only silver Marvel that can compete with Batman and Superman Keys. This is just my thoughts on it.

I agree as well. Superman and Batman are really part of the American culture. Everyone knows them. With Marvel, Spider-man is the only character that has reached close to that status. The Fantastic Four are a long way from there. Who know, maybe they'll reach it too. I just don't think so.

  6. Allow me to jump on the "Kudos to Roger/Weird Paper Bandwagon!" yay.gif

This is my first real foray into the world of GA superheroes. I've mainly been sticking to GGA, Sci-Fi and ERB stuff since I started collecting GA a couple of years ago, but I've decided 2007 is going to be a Batman year for me. Thanks to Roger I'm off to a good start! 893applaud-thumb.gif

    Cool pickups!

  7. Which one would you choose. Now these two books have similar asking prices and will probably not be purchased anytime soon for those amounts. Just figured I give this a try.

    or....

    XMen-1-98PC.jpg

Batman 1 for obvious reasons. I also agree that the X-Men 1 is overgraded. How can the pages be white with the cover that yellow?

  8. arrived today......VG+ unrestored with off-white pages.

price: much more than you are imagining

    value to me: priceless

Wow. That book is a beauty. With prices being what they are I'll be more than happy with a 0.5 restored that has the front cover and the complete Batman story only.

If anyone has that for sale, please let me know.

  9. Normally I'd go for GA over SA, but am not a Robin fan, and because I'm hardly alone in this, I think a 9.4 AF #15 will always be easier to liquidate at full value than a 9.4 'Tec #38, even if the 'Tec is rarer. But to be honest if I had $125,000 to spend on one comic, neither one would be my choice.

I agree. If I had $125,000.00 to spend on one book, You can get a low-mid unrestored Detective Comics 27 or Action Comics 1. If you go restored you can get much nicer one. For that money, I just wouldn't buy Amazing Fantasy 15 or Detective Comics 38.

  10. Ok...here's a real wild one I think ( if comparing 2 books to each other can be considered wild ). We have the highest graded Flash123 SA semi-key, and a 9.6 Batman #5 double cover that looks overgraded, and is by far IMO the most 8.0 looking 9.6 I have ever seen...nothing about this book looks NM+.( I know they are grading the inner cover, but we see the outer cover )

Which one would you choose, and why?

    ......................or

    1572306-flash123.jpg

this is one of the few instances where I don't care what CGC says, that Batman is not a NM+, and I would choose the killer Flash 123

Batman 6. I've never owned a double cover and it's Batman!
