Only someone with an intellectual disability would have sold this book before the movie is made. Good thing you kept your other two copies.
So you whine about this being a bad spec book but now youre whining cuz I sold too early? Make up your mind about what you would like to complain about.

You know, I go to sleep real comfortable like. You know why? Because people like you are threatened. You are threatened by things like this. It irks you. It gets under your skin. But why does that make me smile?
Let me tell you why. Your time has come and passed. People like you are marginalized. You're a dying breed. Society is changing and you are being left behind. You feel that the world is figuratively slapping you around with this and you know what? You're right... because people like you are being shunned and all you can do is just be angry. You got nothing. You got no real recourse.
And that is why I smile. You got nothing except your anger and in the end... you've got nothing at all.
Actually, I have 3 copies of Final Crisis 7. Thats not exactly nothing. 😂🤣😂🤣😂

I like to apply the greater fool theory when speculating. In this case, i'm not sure that is possible.
have you seen the price jump today? it has sold for 400 and has listings of up to 500 now.

I'd buy every single issue of Hell Arisen 3 I could. Punchline is getting an HBO Max show, super low print run (11k) and is "diverse". Get it get it get it! Take those gains from that book and buy bigger books. Rinse, repeat.

because for some people playing the loterry is more fun than investing.
Anyways, Final Crisis 7 is the first appearance, CGC just doesn't have it right. But the market determines prices, not what CGC writes on a slab.
This is correct. The last 9.8 went for $189 USD two days ago. I predict this will double by the time spring rolls around when Calvin is reintroduced. Once it becomes a movie a 9.8 will fetch well over 1k.

Why is Calvin Ellis?
The first Black Superman. If you know anything about comics is that they are forcing diversity down our throats. As a speculator I'd say load up on all of the black versions of mainstream characters in case they pull a miles morales and go up in value like crazy. Sure the movies might suck, nobody really wants to see this but it'll drive the prices up and that's all that matters.

Well if this is a "penny stock" investment for you, I shouldn't have wasted my time. Hope you score big.
You came here and completely missed the topic of the dicussion. Now my time has been wasted. In case you missed the subject line I will repost it.
Which issue is his first appearance?

Instead of speculating on something that might pop or might fade into obscurity, why not speculate on keys with a proven track record of sustained value?
I'd rather go for a bigger gain. I look at books at this level as penny stocks. The potential for a 5 or 10x is greather than a higher value book.
-
Then I shall be the greatest of the great fools! Anyway, black Superman will be the next one to pop off so the prices are still very low for this character. As of yesterday I counted only 72 graded copies of Final Crisis 7, Action 9 has maybe 90 graded.
-
I'm going to ask key collector. CGC isn't the authority on anything no more than you or I are. Not to say that Key collector is either, but I've already bought a 9.8 graded copy and now need Final Crisis 7 to be the one!
-
The fact that he was or wasn't superman shouldn't matter. Look at Tim Fox, first appearance is Batman 313 and he wasn't Batman at all in that one. Sometimes I really really hate this industry.
-
Final Crisis 7 is the first appearance of Calvin Ellis, aka black superman. Why does Action comics 9 say first full appearance on the slab when it is his 2nd appearance? Is this going to be 1st Gambit debate all over again where a few people get to decide which book is the key?

I recently dropped off a book at my lcs to be graded. My question pertains to spinde split and how it will affect a grade if at all. It peels off the spine near the center. Sorry for the low res cell phone pics and I dont have any more photos of it.
There is also some corner blunting top and bottom, again not sure if thats a manufacturer defect or from shipping. Here are a few photos.

It does look like it would press out pretty well. Good luck.
Thanks. Hoping to get it to a 9.4.

That Spidey isn't as bad as the Spawn by any means. It's not bulging or misshapen, more like slight wear with minor colour loss.
I hope my bend presses out. Im taking it to a different shop in a few months and hope they can repair this. So pisssed about this

Jeez, I would not put a book with that corner damage in the 9+ range.
Thats what I think too. Which leads me to believe it didnt get damaged until it was at the cgc being encapsulated. I would have pressed it first and would never submit it looking like this.
The CGC said I can send it back to get fixed. Does that mean theyll press the book to fix the bent corner or just reslab it as this case is scuffed and scratched?
Im not sure if they will assume responsibility for this. Maybe id be better off getting it pressed and resubmitted through a different lcs.
-
Thanks for the insight. My lcs opted not to press it which was odd to me considering its in the nm range. Agreed on not being able to prove the damage, its a bit upsetting as the damage came after I sent it in. I might go to another shop and have them press and resubmit. In the near future im going to buy a press and submit myself so it doesnt happen again.
-
slab is also scuffed and scratched badly
-
I went to a local comic shop and submitted through them. When I picked up the book today I noticed this corner damage, which wasn't there before when I dropped it off at the store. Has anyone seen this type of damage and know what could cause it?
2nd photo is the best one I have of it before it was sent off.
Id also like to note that the grader notes do not mention anything about the corner damage, and there are 2 small light scuffs on the front of the case.
