What do you think, to display or not to display, that us the question. Obvious water damage, not the best condition  but rare and COOL!

YES!!  Very cool indeed. You didn't mention, what are the dimensions? That too would be a factor for decision to display or not...

To display it would be nice due to its rarity as well as its "huh?" value. It would certainly be catalyst for conversation, as opposed to other obvious items in your gallery. I love discovering new paintings by artists I love in museums, and rare singles from bands I have listened to for years...sorta in that vane...

Is that the original Capt Atom?
Who is that? I have never heard of him.
    Is he still around?
Whats Charlton Comics? I thought there was only DC and Marvel...etc...

But seriously, is that the original Capt Atom? I am too lazy to wiki it.

If your name was E-Man today, you'd prolly get picked up by the narcotics squad, lol

What probably happened was the pre-grader (the grader that counts the pages and checks everything else on the book) probably made a mistake when he or she entered the "affects story" comment. Then the finalizer (the grader that decides the final grade of the book and double checks the book for anything the pre-grader may have overlooked) changed the notation to "does not affect story." This type of thing often results in a verbal exchange between the finalizer and pre-grader...and most of the time, it ends up like this:

    :makepoint:

Frustrating to say the least. Thank you for your input.

This was for Hulk 181 and I find it unsettling that such a book would have this type of occurrence.

  3. I submitted a Highly regarded book.

Got it back at GREEN  / 5.0

The notes, however, contradicted...one said stamp removed on page 10, AFFECTS story...the other note said DOES NOT affect story.

I requested a correction/verification...it was returned as BLUE at 3.5 w/ does NOT affect story...

The whole thing still doesn't make sense to me

What does "page 10" actually mean, anyway? I think it means "leaf 10", not numbered page 10...because the stamps were towards the end of the book...anyone know?

  4. I have ZERO talent to build anything...and near zero desire to do so...I would like to just pay for some nice frames to hang from an office wall...about 20 or so to display various books from the 60s without breaking the bank. These are NOT encapsulated...just bagged and boarded presently.

Any suggestions? I have been to Michaels Crafts and their sister store ACMoore, and didnt like what they had...I would prefer a slime fitting frame rather than a "floating frame"but will gladly take what I can get.

  5. So...if a book is returned with "MARVEL VALUE STAMP MISSING FROM PAGE 10, DOES NOT AFFECT STORY"...

Is that "leaf 10" or numbered page 10???
I have seen this rmk on a number of books, like its a template for the graders...but i know these particular stamps were closer to the back of the book, if that make sense...anyone? BTW...these were graded 5.0 GREEN and 3.5 BLUE

  6. I have ZERO talent to build anything...and near zero desire to do so...Though that room looks so nice, truley...I would like to just pay for some nice frames, about 15 or so to display various books from the 60s without breaking the bank.

Any suggestions? I have been to Michaels Crafts and their sister store ACMoore, and didnt like what they had...I would prefer a slim fit frame rather than a "floating frame".

  7. I recently had a similar experience...I called the customer service line and spoke to an agent. He asked me to email him directly the details of my concerns and I attached some pics...this was last Friday (one week ago). He is out today (I just called). That's all I have...

    My concerns were:
    >RED Graders notes online, contradict notes on case and BLACK comments online
    >Marked flaws seem incorrect as I believe the wrong pages are referenced
    >Suspected book swap, perhaps, or notes are swapped
    >Notes/rmks are not consistent with what I have found online

This is a high end book, so the grade could be affected...this was also my FIRST submission, so this is a bit of a disappointment. I hope it is addressed and corrected soon.

I hope this helps...good luck, to us both!!

That really sucks. Hopefully they get it fixed for you at no charge.

I just found this link in here that explains custom labels a bit but not too much in details:
    https://www.cgccomics.com/news/article/7873/

As far as my missing label goes, it seems (from the article linked) that custom labels are only for Blue Universal and Yellow Signature series...the Green Books (like mine) do not "qualify"...oh well...WHERE'S MY FIVE BUCKS?!? I need to go back to see if I was charged for it...not the end of the world...but clarity (when submitting) on this sorta thing would be an improvement.

  9. HI there...this is my first post/reply so take that for what it is worth..

What books were you hoping to get labels for??

I spoke to the graders at the NC ComicCon...and they told me this ( for I had similar questions)...Custom Labels will only show available to purchase as you are submitting IF, the books are eligible for a customer label...Currently ( as far as my submissions went) they only have MARVEL labels...they are only allowed to be placed on MARVEL books...So, my Batman 200, could not get a Spiderman label...However, My Hulk 181 can get a Spiderman label...or Hulk...or Capt Marvel or Capt 'merica, etc...there is no cross company labeling permitted.
I asked why the labels were not offered to my Batman submission...all my others were Marevel...they told me the above.
I hope this answers your question...
