I know sellers tend to round up on grades but CMON MAN.

Or maybe I can sell this guy some of my 5.0s as 9.4's? Lmao

Misgrading by this much should almost be a crime. I feel sorry for some new collector who buys it.

Anyone seen worse? Any 3/4.0s presented as 9s?

Seems as though the discounted prices on the 9.8's and 9.6's were short lived, with 9.8's averaging around $4,800 and 9.6's averaging $1375 over the past few weeks.

Why is 300 his first full and not 299?

Venom's hands show up in #298 as a cameo. Have you seen the final page of #299? Obviously we're not going to agree but it's a full reveal of the character, IMO a 1st full. The image from the last page of #299 has been used on posters, towels, t-shrits, recent variant covers for Cate's run. Super iconic. So far from just a cameo.

#300 is Venom's first full story and obviously the market has landed on this book as his most important.

  4. Considering the current social climate I think this book has some real potential. Since it is selling for $600-$700 in 9.8 I think it has a long way to go to reach New Mutants 98 levels. And if we look at Female keys we can compare with NYX 3 and EOSV 002. I don't pay a lot of attention to Captain Marvel or BA 12, but I think the book will only increase in value based on the success of the television series.

I bought this one in April for $16,750.

I can't remember what the seller was asking at the time, but somewhere around $24k.

I used GPA to look at relatively similar sales. Last year an SP 5.0 sold for $25k. An EP 5.0 sold for $14,500. I looked at what similar books were selling for on eBay and Comic Connect.

Considering the book is tight and the edges sharp and the only restoration was a small amount of color touch, I was thrilled with the purchase.

I hope this helps. Feel free to PM me if you need more info.

Probably a stupid question, but how much restoration can be removed from a legitimate clean? (By CCS)

I have been offered an Amazing Fantasy #15 mid-grade with slight moderate restoration (B-2). Restoration includes a married cover, a re-glossed cover, and small amount of color touch on cover. Sorry, but I am not going to provide a picture nor a grade, as I don't want someone to swoop in and buy the book out from under me. I will just say that it looks beautiful in the picture. I also have verified the certification number, and all comments on the slab match up with the CGC certification page.

I was wondering how a person might value a book such as this. I have always used the rule that a restored book is worth 50% of an unrestored book. I don't know if this is the correct valuation, but it's not like there are a set of guidelines that have been published.

If you are willing to share your thoughts, it would be appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.

    Stay away from Purple labels!

You seem like someone that is very interested in an original copy. Just get one that has never been compromised

Moderation review is usually handled by an admin.  Due to the pandemic, admin availability had been limited.  If someone has a question about a pulled FS thread, I usually try to answer.  If it's a moderation action that involves posting guidelines,  I don't.   Although it is encouraged by admins to add a note in the warning.   An admin does check on every moderation action that is taken against board members by volunteer mods.

    Might as well just say.

So all hell is breaking loose over her statements, I’m not here to get political or to agree or disagree, all I’m gonna say is, I’m glad I didn’t drop hundreds on her first appearance. 😂😂

She has every right to make any opinion she wants. Whether it will be well received or not is a whole other question. But it is accurate in saying if you do not conform to popular opinion or the current snowflake status quo ante of mainstream sidebag wearing modern society then you are going to be ostracized.

The saying "If you can't beat 'em you might as well join 'em" doesn't apply, the new saying is "You can't beat us, so submit to us"

    You're kidding, right?

People seem to buy a number in the right hand corner, taking away the validity of the book and the effort put into it by the writers and artists involved in the process. I think it's insulting to the tasks at hand. It's similar to drywallers and coming into a recently framed house and covering it with their cheap plaster of Paris or whatever drywall is made of. Buying the book means you bought it because of the effort put forth by people like Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

Long story short I was doing a major cleaning of my parents garage and I found a stack of books I wrote off as lost 10-15 years ago. The prize of this find was New Mutants 98. And the best part was it looked insanely good. But then I saw it, and I missed it because I hadn’t ever seen this type of flaw before. I’m heartbroken because I legit thought I had a 9.8 candidate. See the pic below and tell how badly I get dinged for this

I've seen this before on the same book. I wouldn't think this would even affect the grade.

  11. I've never been disappointed with a Predator movie. Even with the clash of AVP. With both franchises taken into account, I feel that the only problem was between Prometheus and Covenant, where they could have elaborated more on the Alien species that eventually created Alien and the "Holy" War, but it would have been nice to introduce "Predator' in that sequence as 'Aliens' was introduced in Predator 2
