One thing I don't wish for anyone is that moment where you click to see the grade and see 0.0 instead. Yikes. I'll definitely be more wary of raw in the future.

I think at the price I paid I thought we were sort of splitting the risk between 3.0-5.0.

I actually think the dealer himself didn't know the situation, feels like he too was duped, we were talking and he pulled out a few interesting books and I'd never seen a DD#1 with that good a cover in real life ... which in hindsight makes total sense lol. He mentioned he too was impressed by the cover, but he's more of a collectibles dealer than a comic book one. He came across this thing at a sale and thought it was interesting. 

Hopefully CGC doesn't think I'm a criminal, I just wasn't aware you could make covers look that "real" with a printer. Again, in hindsight all this seems like "well, duh" but I guess I was caught up in the find.

After reading all the comments I'll pay him a visit and mention the situation. When I told him I was getting it graded he said to let him know because he was interested in the result. Do I have a tale for him now or what? Sigh.

Nope, raw from a dealer. I could go back and complain, but I'll probably just avoid the place from here on out. 

And the verdict is ...

"COVERLESS. (COVER IS A COLOR COPY.) Staples replaced."

Bought it raw from someone I didn't know, should have known better. Basically a forgery, I'll keep it around as a valuable lesson lol.

Normally they work from Monday to Friday at their buildings (one in Florida and other in UK) but they can do onsite grading on the weekend at the show (they do three or four times a year).

Unfortunately, it's COVID-19 pandemic interrupted the shows.   It's not hurting to call the customer service or email them.

They may work on the weekends unless they are falling behind. Those people who are working in the receiving department may still work from 10-12 hours a day in five days to catch up with the mountain of the unopened packages.

The last show was C2E2 in February 2020. All packages are still shipping to the building.  They always ask us to write "Express" or "Walk Thru" on the packages that will bypass all unmarked packages.

Thanks for the detailed response! Yep, I put WT on the package per instructions, and they've marked it received, so I'm part of the way there. We have holidays in US this week which will also slow things down but hopefully I'll get a result by Friday.

I've used both of the ones listed, and you can find some alternatives on Etsy as well.

But there's nothing avail I've seen that's custom or interesting visually in the way that sports memorabilia is.

Hopefully we will see more in the way of lit bookshelf style cases coming in the near future. Attaching one of the more cool things I ended up doing with the full frames, sorry for low res, had to crop it from another pic, but I liked the tilt.

Thanks Joey. It looks like they've marked it "received" only for today, so you're correct, it will still be a bit. 

Newb question, I've done a bit of searching and have seen conflicting info. 

For those who have used the same day walk through service - if they mark received on a Saturday (today), does the turnaround time mean today? Or would the "same" day be on Monday? Thanks if anyone out there has experience in this matter!
