I'm just getting the hang of it myself. There's a good number of artists that you can contact directly. If you see a cool commission in a CAF gallery, it can't hurt to shoot the owner an email and inquire about how to go about getting one for yourself. Some of the bigger art dealers and reps can help out too.

 

As an example, I saw a sweet piece by Al Plastino, talked to the owner, got Al's contact info, and had this one for myself shortly thereafter:

 

Anyone know if Plastino is still doing commissions? Also looking for other GA artist still doing commissions if any? Any info is helpful as I have never done this before.

well done! it's a great little run; i had fun putting mine together, but the 2 was a toughie. the only really nice one i ever saw was the okajima from an auction a few years back, but it went high and i was underbidder. the rest are pretty easy.

picked up the #3 Mystery Comics tonight in the CLink auction to go along with the #4 that I got a few days ago. Should finish a deal up tomorrow on a copy of the #1. Anyone know where I can find a copy of the #2 at?

I had other targets in mind in pre-code horror books when I first saw these. Seeing them up close made me realize that I had to have them for my collection.

 

I have to say it is great to see yet another precode horror collector here! We are slowly gaining in world dominion!

 

Have you seen my pre-code horror checklist? It is my take on all of the precode horror books including title, publisher, issue numbers, dates and some notes. You can open it in your browser (it is in CSV format), copy it and paste it right into a spreadsheet. Hope you think it is useful. Was fun to com;pile and I opcassionally update it. If you see something that should be added or removed please let me know!

Hi guys Jacks2start here, I wanted to share some info with everyone, I recently purchashed a small collection of books (1100-1200) from a lady who had owned a store years ago. These books were here personal collection and part of a group that totaled 60,000 books. I have been adding new bags and boards now for weeks.
