Good morning,
Thanks for your message. What you are referring to there is the inner well. This is the inner plastic piece that the books are put into first before they are encapsulated into the CGC holders. The inner well keeps the book in place and prevents the book from shifting around and potentially causing damage.
There was a period of a few months back in 2016 where encapsulated books did not have an inner well. It could be that the first book was encapsulated during that period of time. If you contact our customer service department with the certification number of that book they can review and if it was done during that time period, we will reholder the book at no charge for you. You can contact our customer service department at: submissions@cgccomics.com or at 877-662-6642.
Thank you!
Thanks for your reply! It looks like this particular one was done in 2018…yet it still has it. Perhaps you guys ran out of the regular ones and used this. Would they still reholder if it wasn’t done in 2016 yet it still is missing that inner well?

Just curious since sometimes I’d like to see how my slabs have kept up throughout the years. And also to help me ward against potential counterfeits (although that’s very unlikely).
thansk!

New members join the CGC boards everyday, but some just lurk around without saying too much. The point of this thread is to give a heartfelt welcoming, and encourage our new boardies to introduce themselves and say hi.
Hopefully, with your time spent here, you will learn some things, make some friends, and ultimately, enjoy yourselves. (thumbs u
I'll start. I'm Andy. I love DC war comics, but have branched out into every which direction you can think of. Right now, I'm right into Golden Age books and classic covers.
Don't be afraid to ask any questions. That's how you're going to learn. We do, however, have a search engine, and some people may end up asking you to use it. To save yourself a potential smidgen of ridicule, you could consider trying that first.
So, without taking up any more of your valuable time, I'll step back from the podium and pass the microphone to you.
Welcome to the boards, my friends!
Hello! Been a spidey collector for a few years. Love this brand!

I recently purchased an ultimate fallout 4 (12FOUR839FOUR012) and noticed that on the corners, it doesn’t have this curved thing in the plastic, but all my other slabs (about 30 of them) have it?
1)Why does not ULtimate fall out 4 not have the little curved indentation?
2)the slab seems ever so slightly different (a bit thinner) than the 2020 slab…mind you, I’ve had older slabs before from 2014 and they seem way different (much slimmer)..but this one is just a hair thinner…was a very minor design change done in around 2018?
it’s quite expensive so I want to make sure it’s not a fake or anything. Is there any way I can acquire CGC scans of the slab based on the ID number of the slab? Just to make sure the one I have is exactly the one that was sent out to the customer: thanks!
P.S: the ultimate fallout 4 was graded in 2018. I understand that CGC does periodic design changes.
What’s this little curved thing and why does one of my comics not have it?

Cool! Thanks for checking! Lastly, does CGC have a scan of the book that they can share with me just so I know how it looked like before it was shipped out to the customer? I just bought this and got it yesterday.
