Fellow Planet lovers! I have some of my undercopies ending in tomorrows comiclink auction. They're pretty cheap right now if you want to throw a bid in.

And here is one of my favorite Planets from my collection that I'm not selling.

Picked these two up last night in the Heritage Sunday auction. I wanted the #13 at any cost... and someone else made me pay for that decision.

The 34 I'm really happy with, it's so hard to find one of those with good bright colors. This one isn't perfect, but it's much better than most.

I only need 3 issues now and a few others I would like to upgrade. If anyone has a 14, 17 or 28 in CGC 6.0 or better let me know! I have others to trade also!

Dan bought a Showcase 4 from me. Paid instantly, great communication, a pleasure to deal with!

I've fallen behind on this thread, but here is my 9... I don't have a 10.

(I finally found the right box, Karl;) Lower grade, but strong colors...which are what I try to look for.Her outfit is orange, but the boots are yellow

I think I like the colours on this one the best so far!

And if we're going to continue this... here are the two copies of #3 that I own:

I don't have a 17 or a 2 to add to the discussion...

But here is my #1:

Mine falls a bit in the middle but the switch of yellow for green seems like a reasonable thought given the differences. I'd like to see a non-Heritage scan of that #17 since Heritage has been known to tweak their scanner every now and then.

Another thing to note for the OP is that while it would appear from this thread that Planet 17 is quite common, this couldn't be further from the truth! Going rate for this book right now is about 3.5 times guide, if you can find a copy at all!

Mine is decent so I didn't chase it.

 

 

 

If/when you do upgrade Michael, I'll take a decent beautiful copy like that off your hands without hesitation.

Your copy is awesome! I recommend putting it up for auction, as I would dearly love it as well, and I know there are at least a couple others on these boards that would want it.

I was the winner of the previously mentioned #11. Bit of an ugly dust shadow, but this one has been eluding me for a long time so I'm happy to finally have one.

I thought the 16 was a good deal. It would have only been a small upgrade for me, so I dropped out of the bidding pretty early. I really wanted the 17 but it went for more than I was comfortable with. Did anyone here get it? Seems like the board swept most of the Planets up.

After seeing cheetah's I had to check out mine again. Hey, it's not too bad either!

Just received this from the last Comiclink auction.

Looks better in hand than grade. If grader's notes didn't cost so much, I would be very tempted to see what they say. In the end I guess it doesn't matter, I am just happy to own a 34.

While we're on the subject of the United Nations, I thought I'd post a couple of posters from my collection.

 

These two posters date from 1945 when representatives of 50 countries met in San Francisco to draw up the United Nations Charter.

 

 

Those are so cool. Even after all these years of posting your collection still has so many surprises!

This is a fun cover, the chicken legs are classic.

There is a nice 8.5 in the current CLink auction. You probably already know about it. And 8.5 might be too low for you.

When the # of flippers exceeds the # of fans buying books - watch the prices fall since they're looking for a quick $ and get desperate. I don't see any signs of that happening yet. If Chew gets made and spinoffs make it to TV, it will only add fuel to the fire. Still, not buying at the prices - I guess I missed the boat.

Not when the number of flippers of issue one exceed the number of buyers of current issues, but the number of people buying number one for four figures. Might be sooner than you think. Not everybody that buys the compendium is even remotely interested in owning a thousand dollar comic.

 

Good point. $1000 issues take a lot of the fans out of the market. I don't see many old school collectors dropping that kind of coin for a new series when they can pick up some relatively rare bronze age keys in 9.8 for that $$$.

 

And thats the crux right there.

A few collectors of older comics are getting royally pissed that a 'modern' can command so much money.

Its simple.

Quite a few people nowadays find those older comics plain boring.

Most moderns contain dialogue and storylines that would be considered obscene/immoral/add your own term, back then, but are relevant to how society is now. So younger people find relevance with characters in modern books but couldn't give a rats-behind about some guy who looks like a lizard (or whatever).

The only exception is Batman, as he has been remade into a character for the 2010's - the last 3 films were masterpieces as stand alone movies,but as a triogy, unsurpassable.

With the exception of Iron-Man I have found the Marvel Films as exciting as paint drying.

Next-up - a talking Racoon. Really? Please.

Unless they are a zombie, in moderns,its just once.

At least collectors and sellers of modern comics don't go onto other age forums and be disrespectful about things those people collect.

If TWD bombs - so be it.

I would never go onto another 'age' forum and be so classless as to basically hope someones hardwon collection would go down the toilet.

Well according to CGC tape isn't considered restoration. I'd be happy just to get an affordable pre-Robin Tec and if the tape bothers some people than I'll have a better shot at getting an unrestored Pre-Robin Tec! EJR
