Movie adaptations were my entry point into comic OA, Conan in particular. I suspect there are a fair number of people coming from toy collecting and other 3D collecting pop culture areas into the hobby. I have no real interest in superhero art but have come to appreciate the artists. So for people interested in comic art and Kirby, the 2001 book is a nice sweet spot. Logan's Run, Island of Doctor Moreau, Star Wars, ESB, ROTJ, Blade Runner, 3 Indy films, both Conan films, etc. I sold most of this to fund a Warhammer art addiction, where I found I could still buy the art from the artist's hands, but still have 3 Blade Runner pages, including the recently acquired dps by Williamson. Wish I had stretched for the BR2 cover when HA had it, wish I had been involved when CL auctioned the Buscema Conan 1 cover (pre Arnold sig), wish I had stretched last year on the Hake's SW try-outs by Williamson...there's a pattern here :)

That said, no way I'd be into the Treasury 2001 at these prices. Later run pages could be had in the 3-4k range recently though no idea if that is still the case. I think the weird, cosmic, metaphysical pages are the sweet spot more so than multi-paneled talking men pages.

That Blade Runner cover showed up on ebay in 2000/2001.  I was going to place a last-second bid on it, but my dial up internet connection failed me.  Closing price was $400.

I don't think that's a fair comparison.   Jim put in some years and developed the characters and to my understanding got busy handling all the licensing and admin.    He also continued to write the strip for... I don't know how many years but when he stopped drawing he was still writing the gags, drawing the preliminary panels, and just passing off the finished art.   Still very involved.

True.  I don't think Kane did more than farm out the work and cash the checks.

Now on sale at AS' for 1500 USD :

Problem is: Anthony's staff took for granted the original description of the original seller but... is the "Hericane" character really an existing one from the DC Universe?!?! IMHO, seems more to be a random superbabe sketch by AH, but I'm all ears.

    Ebay sale price was $330

They sold one last August for $720, and I thought that was high.  $1500 for the Cinderella Tiny Tales book also surprised me.  I have extras on both if anyone's looking.

I know nothing of this series, so take this with a grain of salt maybe, but I looked up Cowgirl Romances issue 5 on the comics db and it says Maurice Whitman

Sorry I can't read, thats for the cover. The rest of the information seems to be unknown unless it's part of the last story of the book which is credited to Ken Battefield, sorry lol

Thanks for looking it up.  This is page 6 from the Spitfire of the Prairies story.

A data point, does not indicate a general trend.  This Peanuts Sunday from 1959 just hammered ay $52,500 on Nate Sanders.  Not cheap by any means but more on the cheaper side than the higher side given:

    1.  Age, 195x art is definitely on the desirable side.

    2.  Content - captures a true view of Lucy and Linus’s relationship with some great drawings

The first thing that hurt this piece was the starting bid was set to $75k (not including BP).  I think this stopped a lot of people from bidding.  Starting bid was at about where it could end.  Nate Sanders has been doing this a lot lately, very high starting bids.  They later reduced the starting bid to $40k I believe.  Had they started the bidding at $20k I think they would have gotten more bidders and potentially a higher final hammer.  I was watching but couldn’t really pursue it at 75k starting bid (hammer would be $93,750 at the starting bid).  I didn’t see they dropped the starting bid until after the auction closed but if it had been $40k to start, I would have looked to get funds to take a run at it.

Considering that a '65 Linus/Lucy daily in the same auction went for $65K, this was a bargain.
