  1. But I think it is our place to bring stuff like this to the attention of as many people and places we can. This hobby has to be protected as much as it can. Now I have to go and watch a crappy sci fi movie to get me going today.
  2. The comic shop blame was probably a deflection from his own scam. I've been collecting for 45 years and dealt with lots of shops. Never seen a shop with a stock of multiple covers.
  3. I believe that was 1951. Might have to try and find a shop with some older comics though, but I would still buy what I could off the racks.
  4. You drove back in time? If he did, I'd like to accompany him And with $1.00 in our pockets, we'd be very rich buying a hand full of comics.
  5. that title sounds like my life right now.
  6. Actually I only took a few and it was a 7 hour cruise with me and a " friend " . . And it was hotter than heck, even on the bike.
  7. Going on a Veteran's run tomorrow out of Lowell Indiana. They are calling for sunny and 94 degrees. I'll post some pics later when I get back, if Ditch don't mind. Should be an interesting crowd in this heat. I have a back up plan if I don't like the looks of this. I always have a back up plan, and an escape route.
  8. Agreed. It's good to be in the old habit of quoting the book so the picture is with your post when you buy. +1
  9. I've never had any transaction with him on the buy or sell side. And I've never had any problem with anyone on here as far as sales or purchases, period.
  10. it sucked. It poured like crazy. but it's just another adventure in the world of motorcycles.
  11. My passenger today. This girl is tough as nails. Don't complain or beetch about anything. " Lets Ride " She don't care how far or how long. I'm slowly getting back on my feet and into circulation again so this is a good start I guess.
  12. Went on a bike run today. Ride for Life is a Cancer benefit. Ride. Started out in Manteno Ill, about 35 miles from the house. Got our tickets and went to the first stop. I had no idea where the hell we were. The sky opened up, and I mean opened up. I found Rt 17 and headed into Kankakee and shot up Rt 50 into Peotone Ill and we stopped and ate lunch. Just took a few pics before the rain hit and thought I'd throw these in here. Some interesting stickers on this bike. You see some strange stuff on these runs.
  13. One more pic and that's it, don't want to derail this thread. I have some great videos but I need to get them switched over to DVD. This is a Volvo 460. Mediocre machine at best. Too front heavy and not alot of power. This was the start of the new McCormick Place exapansion. We are making a connection and started layin 72" diameter sewer. The pipe weigh about 18,000lbs each. You can see the boxes in the ground and the plates on the sides. The guys standing are some of the best in the business and I've know them for over 30 years. Great foreman, bottom man and top man. I miss those guys. Every one knew they're sheet and never no problems. What a huge project this was. Lots of over time and lots of fun in those days.
  14. Sometimes. I did alot of big sewer work in Chicago. You talk about nerve racking and you have to have a lot of patience loading trucks and digging around utilites that are all over the place. Gas, 911, Com Ed, water lines, water mains, street light cable. The stuff is all over the place. Plus your pulling a double stack of trench boxes as you go with steel plates lining the sides to keep water and krap out of the ditch until you get the pipe set. I dug some deep runs, some around 38' deep. I did most everything though. Even was on the River Forest Deep Tunnel project for two years. The main tunnels were 30 ft in diameter and 280 ft down. Drop shafts were about 12ft in diameter. I took alot of pictures of all that stuff through the years, and some good videos.
  15. If he can't I'll dig if for him. I've got more certs than teeth. You ever drive one of those Dr? My dream when I was a little kid. So wish I could that's me in the pic's. I was in Local #150 Operating Engineers for 38 years before I retired. I ran probably every kind of excavator made, including the old air over hydraulic, and hydraulic over friction machines before technology took off and the variable displacement pumps took over.
