  1. After giving it some thought, I now think I'd prefer the Green Label.  I'd rather see an 8.0 or so in Green than a 1.8 in Blue! Thanks for the response!!!

  2. Hello, I have a Hulk #181 that I want pressed and graded.  I estimate in it's raw form it's a $3,000 comic, which would lead me to Express, correct?  Also, can I ship it in the same box as other comics I am having graded that aren't Express or Walk-Through? What would be the approxiamate turn around times with the pressing added?  Lastly, somewhere I read the box needs to be marked differently, but I can not find the reference again.  Thanks!

  3. Hello,

I recently acquired a Hulk #181. It looks to be an 8.5, but the MVS has been cleanly cut out of it.
Can I request a blue label as opposed to a green label?
Next, what is the highest grade obtainable with the MVS Stamp missing (if I can get a blue label)

This story originally appeared in FF #27.  However, it was also reprinted at least once.  What's the page count on both the story and your coverless copy?

It goes to p23 with 2 pages of ads afterwards. Pretty sure it’s from FF 27 then because I know the collection this came from (the dude gave me FF#4!)

Probably not much value to a coverless #27, eh?

  5. Hello, I bought a collection of about 700 comics this weekend and this was amongst them. I just don’t know if it’s the facsimile edition or not. It’s still sealed in the poly bag, so I’d hate to open to find out. Can you tell from the cover alone?? The only difference I’ve seen so far is the facsimiles don’t say Direct Edition by the bar code. Can anyone help?? Thanks.

I personally would NEVER spend that much on a PGX.  You're rolling the dice.  I've bought a couple in the past for under $100, I cracked open one and found a coupon had been clipped out of an interior page.

Yeah, I think I’m not gonna go for it, especially on a Resto book.

  7. Hello, I have an opportunity to buy a JIM #83 for $7,000, but it’s a PGX restored 6.0. Restoration says “moderate”, but it has quite a bit done to it color touch up, paper added, etc…. Is there room to make money in that? I think I’d have to send it to CGC if I were to ever try to resell it. (For me personally I’d rather have a 2.0 unrestored!)

  8. Thanks to those that left thoughtful replies. Sorry if I was confusing or too lengthy for the others.

After taking a 30 year hiatus from buying comics I see an awful lot of comics that are  just dollar bin comics. It just seems like sellers are looking at EBay or the Price Guide and are thinking every one of them are gonna sell at a particular value. If a seller thinks his collection is worth $5.000, but I only see a handful that might be quick sellers, I can’t see paying 50-75% of that value. ( of course, if the seller was sitting on a silver age collection, the circumstances would be different and I could see offering 60-75% of the value!)

Anyways, I was just seeing what people’s thought was on things! Thanks!

  9. Recently, I decided to sell my personal collection. In doing so, I found I rather enjoy the whole process of grading each one, listing them and selling them. (Making some money is nice too!) Eventually, I’ll need more inventory, so I was thinking about buying some collections, but I really don’t know what would be a fair offer. I really don’t wanna insult anyone, but I don’t wanna screw myself either. So many people selling comic books nowadays think they are sitting on a gold mine and have priced each and every single comic. In  looking at their collections, I’d see a few that might sell quickly, but I think the majority would sell quite slowly. I’ve been offering around 10% of what the max potential value is, but with some collections, even that seems high!! (The guys seem quite insulted!!)  Anyone willing to give me a few pointers???

  10. Jon, the interiors are complete with no cut outs. The centerfold is detached on the Strange Tales. The backs are similar shape as the fronts. I consider them both to be 1.8s. I’ve listed the ST on EBay at that grade. I promised the person who gave me FF #4 I’d never sell it and I’ve kept that promise for over 40 yrs now! ( if I were to sell it as is, I think I’d say it’s a 1.5 though)
I like encapsulating for preservation reasons + the boosted sale price.  Next time I send an order into CGC, they’ll probably go!
