  1. There was a thread like this a number of years ago, but I couldn't find it. It's January 1st, so post your Silver Age books with a cover date of January and follow the calendar by posting the proper cover dated books in the proper month. All of our collections have been changing, so this should be fun and show plenty of new books! Parameters would be Jan 1957 to Jan 1970 I guess.
  2. Thanks so much! It's a title that doesn't seem to get much love, which is probably a strong contributing factor in it being affordable enough for me to grab.
  3. I also was lucky enough to be able to add this comic to my collection! A Stan Lee File Copy with perhaps the neatest signature I've ever seen from him!
  4. My only encounter with Stan "The Man" was at Comic Con in San Diego 1994. I had just run into a comic store owner from back home who had told me about an exciting new collection (loaded with Timelys), that they'd just purchased and that they were saving the unveiling of the collection until a big show a few months away! After our conversation ended and armed with this exciting news, I made a beeline across the show to where my group gathered. I had my head down and was walking at a brisk clip when I noticed someone's feet about 2 feet in front of me, which stood me straight up and stopped me in my tracks. It was Stan!!! I almost took the Main Marvel Man right off of his feet!!! He had likewise been walking with his head down and similarly only saw me at the last second!!! I recall him saying, "Whoa, steady partner" as I kind of leapt back a bit. I was taken aback by how small of a guy he was in person and that he looked a bit frail. I mean, he was 71 years old THEN, so an elderly gentleman for sure. He was in good spirits and gave me a huge smile as I exclaimed, "STAN!!!" upon seeing that it was him!!! We shook hands, nodded and shared another grin before we were off our separate ways. I made a note to look for him later but never saw him again. Little did I know that that would be the only time I'd ever meet him in person. I have a number of comics signed by him, none of which I personally had signed. A few of my favorites are below.
  5. I was hunted by "X" the thing that lived!! to I was face-to-face with "The Creature from Planet X"
  6. I started a thread just like this one in the Silver Age area too RM.
  7. Sheena with a single panther to Sheena with a trio of panthers.
  8. August 1962 Mister Morgan's Monster to August 1962 Monster at my window.
  9. Interesting! I haven't delved into the Charlton title really at all, so I was unaware that it shared some of the same creators as the Atlas line! Ditko always comes to mind when I think about an artist who worked for both in the Silver Age.
  10. There were 3 prominent publishers that put out a Wyatt Earp title: Atlas, Dell & Charlton. None connected to the others from what I know of it.
  11. Thanks! Actually, random raw copies of mid-grade or below aren't very expensive at all. Trying to find them in nice shape, THAT'S the tough part! I'm working on a raw run of readable or better copies and a certified run with the goal being as high of a grade as I can find/afford. I seldom see them in the 9's.
