Hey guys, just wanted your opinion. I was about to purchase a seal Marvel series 1 tin and got outbid. It closed significantly higher at $537. Do ya’ll think these are a bubble still. The tins are limited to 4000.

Is anyone seeing the new Venom 35 Clayton Crain Variant in any comic shop websites? I’m seeing preorders on ebay and I’m wondering how these guys have access to so many preorders when I can’t find them anywhere.

Yeah I figured that was boosting. I think that happens a decent amount to get prices up. I just got my CGC 9.4 newstand for $1600. I no I may have overpaid a little but I wanted one from a reputable dealer and it was at a high rated comic shop in Jersey.
I want the virgin Crain Venom 7 but people have doubled the price in the last 30 days.
Like eBay history shows no sales near what they are asking now. It was just jacked up.

Not sure how far back Ebay Sold goes, but the only raw ASM #300s I could find going for that price is from known scammer Beatlebluecat.
All the links in pink are BBC.

I was just wondering how many of guys buy raws on eBay and get them graded. What’s your success rate/ experience doing this?
-
So I picked up a ASM 300 9.4 newstand, SW 8 9.6 newstand, and a 9.8 virgin variant absolute carnage.
I want to send them all in for signatures. Should I be worried about them getting downgraded if I do that? They were all graded within the last 2 years.

Are you looking to straight up sell any of those?

Because it is considered a production defect.
Doesn’t seem right but that does explain it and also seems to be the only logical conclusion aside from just grader subjectivity. Thank you

So did you end up buying or did we scare you away when we started talking about newsstands...
I’m keeping an eye out. I occasionally offer lower than asking. Like someone wanted 5k for 9.6 news stand. I offered what I thought was fair which is substantially less. They eventually reached out but new pics show it has a ragged cover edge which puts me off.

Found a 9.6 ASM 300 that has a ragged edge on the top right cover.
How does this go through CGC grading and get a 9.6?

Were I wanting a 9.8 copy of this book, I’d buy 2 recently graded 9.6 copies ( apparently CGC is super tight at the moment ) and sit on them until they loosen up a bit. While you’re waiting for that to happen, you can watch the prices for 9.6s keep rising along with the 9.8s. Then resub both books in hopes of getting 9.8s.
If that gamble doesn’t pay off, you can sell both copies and buy a 9.8
If you’re lucky, one comes back 9.8 & you can sell the remaining 9.6 to offset the cost of the 9.8
If you’re really lucky, both come back 9.8, and you can sell one & get the 9.8 you want for your collection for free.
For future reference in case prices do dip, how recently would it need to have been graded?

I’ve been a long time fan of venom. I bought his first comic and the first appearance of carnage when they came out, both still pristine.
I’ve always wanted Venom’s first appearance but couldn’t afford the price when I was younger, and then I forgot about comics all together until recently. Now I see it and wonder if I will ever have a chance at buying a 9.8 at a lower price if I wait. Been looking for Stan and Todd signed 9.6s on eBay as well but the prices are going up so fast. Just not sure I want to splurge 4k. Still a lot of money for me although I could swing it.
What do you guys think?
I’ve decided to abandon my mission here unless prices drop substantially. Should have bought it years ago. Missed the boat

A 9.8 signed Stan Lee and TM just sold for 9.5k on eBay
It’s just gotten dumb at this point. For it to accelerate to this degree seems euphoric... like a bubble

but isn't that seller charged commission by eBay? I don't know how much
I believe 10% or something.

It was a cbcs and they jumped since that auction and a $5900 sale on eBay. I honestly think sellers are boosting by buying copies with alt accounts. I know for sure it happened with the jordan rookies in the last year

There are none on eBay for $5K. Cheapest copy available is $7.5K
I might stand correct about current prices. They have increased on average just since Sunday even though there haven’t been any significant sales on eBay. Someone actually paid under 7.5k for Stan and Todd 9.8 CGC. I haven’t looked up actual price. But a bid auction did settle at 5900 today. That must have elevated everything

Search unspecified. Also I’m pretty sure they are going for 4.5k on my comic shop. And again the expensive ones aren’t commonly selling for that high. They are expiring and reposting. The ones that sell with “or best offer”, you can look up the actually sales price on the source page. Only a handful have sold for like 7 or something since the beginning of the year. Most if not all are signed, otherwise they just didnt care

Where have you seen 9.8’s for $5K? I’ll gladly buy them
Additionally, any of those sellers asking for 7k or 10k, offer them 5k if that’s what you want to pay, one of them will take it.

Up to you. eBay. I’ll buy them from you at a markdown once prices deflate and the graded numbers keep climbing

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you can forget about paying $5K for a 9.8 ... it’s more like $6K now.
People are asking. They aren’t selling. I’m researching the source pages for all the closing bids. The ones that sell are going for less than asking. I suspect the ones that have sold for higher were purchased by the seller to boost prices. Even if they didn’t do that, if the demand isn’t sustainable it’s not worth asking. From what I see, it isn’t sustainable. And I’ve seen 9.8s for 5k in the past week, and some have been reposting for 2 months.

Watch out for the “rag-tag” edge that’s common on this issue. CGC doesn’t downgrade for it, but it’s something you may want to keep an eye out for.
You talking about where the edge is all jagged? Seen that on some.

That makes perfect sense and it would definitely drive me nuts. I was looking for that and also cover misalignment with the rest of the book. I hadn’t the misalignment above that obvious before.

So you think 5 for a signed 9.8 is reasonable?
Thanks in advance.
3rd party seals for unopened collections
in CGC Trading Cards General Discussion

Any one know if there is way to get a seal that provides provides proof of seal for a Marvel card tin set?
I’m looking at a Marvel Series 1 tin plastic seal that is partially compromised but is still maintaining proof of seal. Is there a 3rd party seal I can get to maintain it before it further degrades?
I’m open to suggestions.
