Thanks for the update after the C&P.

    7.0/7.5

6.5...7.0 would be generous with that crease

It still breaks the color a bit, so the VF range is out of the question.  The C&P did help substantially though, so 6.5 at worst or 7.0 more likely should be about right.  I am interested to see the final grade.

Funny, TC33...Me too!! Looking forward to share with you all Appreciate all the advice and opinions.  Praying the grader is having a great day when he/she gets my book. I'm sure you guys would all agree that the presser did a fantastic job. :luhv:

Yes, that is true unless you are willing to pay more money out of your pocket.  Walk Through is 3% of FMV and Express is $130. Before two price hikes, it was only $95 for Express Tier. Before the pandemic, it was only five day turnaround but it's now 16 day turnaround (that was the original turnaround for Standard tier).

So, if you want to use P & C, you have to wait for 6-8 months at CCS before moving to CGC for grading. You have to pick any tier before CCS.  I think FMV or Express is not worthy spending money after more than a year of waiting from CCS.

I prefer slow track Standard or Economy.

Jolly, sorry to hear about your books, I still have a few with CGC.  My hulk181 is currently in transit to my presser. I'm hoping to share pictures with you all.

Are you able to sneak a book of this value in the economy or standard tier?  Even at 6.0 grade, that's a 5k book.  Figured it would need to be walk through or express at worst.

Kawnipi,  i'm about to go back to work within 1-2 weeks. I know its nuts, I did walkthrough and want to be home for it.   UPS delivered  my book to someone else.

Agree. That is a significant crease that will not be pressed away. Even if the color isn't broken the entire length, the paper fibers are sharply creased. Maybe a 6.5... but would not be surprised if it stays the same. Great front cover eye appeal though.

Thank you, Mr. Zipper. Colors are super bright.

Thank you EVERYONE for all the advice and opinions! I know its not a HIGH grade, I'm just happy to have a 181 for my PC.

It's not a blanket smash in the black because there is also color missing in the red in the same spot. My only guess is that it could be a misplaced bustle wheel, they are supposed to ride in the gutters on the web, usually when it starts marking, they move them over. Picture for reference.  They are used to adjust the registration, turn the top knob, the wheel moves up and down.

Thank you, Kevin.  Awesome info, i'll share with my friends.

I second that....   - at 25 cents a pop-cover price and with perhaps a 1/2 million copies rolling out of various presses in 1974 - you can imagine the quality control wasn't perfect... :preach:

    LOL

I did some searching on google and eBay.  I wasn't 100% sure on the "vertical speckling" and wanted to confirm with you guys. :highfive:

Vertical speckling. Very common on Hulk 181’s.

    Awesome, thanks so much joey!

Joe is right, very common on this book.  I'm surprised in your search you didn't see any as I just saw 2 or 3 with it in a google image search of "hulk 181 cgc" (large size images).

    Thanks for the certification number.

    From what I see here...

Joe said that vertical speckling is common so it may be manufacturing defect.  Do you see any defects on the books?

I asked a question in the "PGM" section on this forum w/ some detailed pictures. Sorry for the quality:

It doesn't appear to break cover the entire length. A good press will help. And with how CGC is grading nowadays ... yes.

No color break on the back cover (:fourleafclover:).   The only color break i see is the vertical speckling (middle left of FC). I was told this is pretty common for hulk 181. Hoping it doesn't hurt my grade.
