  1. 90-when ever it became "Green Lantern" again instead of "Green Lantern/Green Arrow" are definite corn. Itty anyone?

Add the Adams books and that's just about my GL run as well. They are over all enjoyable, just not mind blowing or must-have or anything. I remember the 190's to the end of the series being pretty good though.

Pfeh, never mind .. thought I was still in the Bronze and/or Copper forum .. I've been out of it a few months :D The Silver stuff is absolute 60s corn but I dig it. I have scattered issues from about 22 to Adams, and no real desire to pay the money to fill in most of them, but if you can patch-work the run together, it would be pretty neat to own.

  2. Heh, ya, my wife freaked out at the ending. I asked her, "You don't know your Ra's history do you Miss Teen Titans?" :) All I had to say was Lazarus Pit and she worked it out gist of it. I actually still didn't see that coming .. for some reason I thought Ollie would win and Ra's would need the Pit.

As an aside, all of this Ra's stuff is weird without Batman.

  3. Most concerning to me is that apparently Chip is ignoring this discussion.

I don't know how to say this any clearer:

He's not going to come in and comment. B/c it doesn't matter what he says, the TROLLS will turn his words against him; they always do.

Why would anyone voluntarily step into the firing squad??

    who are the TROLLS?

It truly doesn't take much to figure that out...look for the pack of individuals who all roll in around the same time when an "issue" has been been brought to light. True or not, they all pile on and make it their sole purpose to spew hate. They never say a positive word about anyone except themselves....

It's too late in the day for me to try to decipher a list. Could you post one for me?

If you don't know The List, you're probably on it.

I'm sure I'm on it.

I like to be on lists.

You're on the "Always Makes A Happy Birthday Thread For Everyone But Rommin" list

    :roflmao:

    :hi:

    ;)

  4. I met Todd McFarlane at a con in his mid to late ASM days and he just oozed egomaniacal d-bag. So much so, I didn't even stay in line for book signage. He may have just been having a bad day, but I haven't been a fan since.

Mike Grell mangled my three Longbow Hunters books when he signed them, but he was a nice guy .. I have heard differently.

Stan Lee and Jim Shooter were both cordial and funny when I met them .. also, have heard differently.

Claremont and Byrne were very businesslike, no chit chat or personals. It could have been they were rather a big deal at the time and had huge lines though. I never held it against them lol

  5. UXM #133 was EPIC.

    What a great issue.

The final panel in #132 was great as well.

That panel right there and the cover to LS #1 made me a Wolverine fan in the mid '80s. Of course, him being on every cover in the early '90s unmade me a Wolverine fan.

edit - heh, now that I've finished the thread, seems I'm not alone :)

  6. My first real "grail".

I had 3 issues of GR I got off the spinner rack as a kid (24,26 and 53) and read them a thousand times over the years. When I got into "real" collecting in '85 I learned that I could get GR back issues and finally have more adventures to read! After completing another childhood favorite from the 70's (Star Wars 1-6) I began working on Ghost Rider. Ghost Rider was my first true completest goal and finally getting a Marvel Spotlight #5 in '86 or '87 (I'm old, I don't remember well) was almost magical! I've never upgraded it, but here it is:

So, ya, I had my Ghost Rider collection completed before the reboot with Danny. That saved me a ton of bucks looking back on it :)

  7. If it was called anything other than S.H.I.E.L.D. would anyone here still be watching this series ?

The short answer is no. There are already several better spy shows out there (e.g., Homeland, Covert Affairs, The Blacklist, Nikita). There are better superhero shows out there (e.g., Arrow). There is certainly no shortage of shows with good-looking young casts. To the people here saying that AoS is better than other TV out there, I'm not sure what else you're watching - Dance Moms? Honey Boo-Boo? Real Housewives? While there are probably more schlocky TV shows now than at any other point in history, there are probably more quality TV shows than ever as well (think AMC, USA and all the premium cable shows as well), so the "there's nothing better on" argument just doesn't hold water. 2c

Not really sure anyone said "there's nothing better on" .. good grief, if that were the case I would cancel DirecTV instantly. I'm saying two things 1) its a scripted show from a network instead of a craptastic "reality" show which they drool to throw on us, and 2) its a semi-campy, family watchable show with the possibility of Marvel characters showing up.

I already watch AHS, Arrow, Homeland, The Bridge, Orphan Black, Bates Motel, The Wire and those types of shows, so that's what this particular person is watching. This one allows me to take a step back and just watch without dealing with mega serious issues or themes. What's wrong with that? This fits in on my DVR without a problem.

Sure, it's no The Avengers or a serious spy show but it is also not the coming of the anti-Christ absolute piece of horrendous trash that it's being made out to be here. And ya, I would put AoS up against any "reality" show any network tries to force feed its viewers.

  8. Wow, my wife and I have found the first two episodes enjoyable. It's a lot better than a lot of stuff on TV right now. I'm not usually this far away from the vocal majority, so not sure what you guys are looking for and not finding. Coulson, weird tech, flying car, movie continuity plugs, humor, some action .. plays a lot like the Strange Tales run to me so far. The characters are still coming into their own, but that is kind of part of the building process.

    Dunno (shrug)

I have had to explain what an LMD is to my wife and another friend so far though, heh ;)

  9. I hadn't thought of this in a LONG time, but we were discussing old TV shows today and BJ and the Bear came up which reminded me of this. I had no clue what it was called, but after some Google searching I found it! I had this one and my brother had the red and white one. They had "cb radios" as the sleeper part of the cab .. anyone else remember this or have it?? It would be cool to find them in a box somewhere at my parents house, heh.

C.B. McHaul toy line, this is the Bear Masher!
