For those worried about the light, I have always been concerned myself and have taken a degree of precautions. The drapes are the insulated kind with backing to prevent any outside light coming in. Most of the time I spend in the room is with ambient light from the hallway or the light on the desk so there is none pointed directly at the books.
I did have the ceiling fan lights on for the pictures, but I would say that it might be on a max of 10 minutes per day.
It is always that balance act of keeping them in the dark or out to enjoy. The wall art is all relatively inexpensive, so while I am not going out of my way to fade them (the wall art), I am not overly concerned either.
The display with the CGC (and Ghost), I intend to rotate as the fancy strikes.
Thanks to those for all the kind words and Johnny G, I look forward to seeing yours some day! (and everyone elses for that matter)

The New and Improved Reclaimed Comic Kingdom
A while back I was starting to create a comic room, but my wife turned it into her office.. Sadly to say, we have since seperated (no condolences required - pretty mutual). The positive side is that I have regained the room and now have my own official comic kingdom!!!
Thanks for looking and feel free to come over and bring beer!
This first pic is coming through the door. My father and I built the display case during the Christmas Holiday out of scrap wood. The two Disney prints above the door were hung in my daughter's nursery and are there to remember. Also, the good thing about it being a man joint is you don't have to iron curtains before you hang them
This next series is of the file cabinet corner. Total cost of the file cabinets was $65 - see craigslist is good for something. Oh and a mixed in photo of my Grandfather playing ball for the Campbells' Soup ball club in the 50's.
The next is a wall of prints with room to grow and a couple Muggs
More of the case. The golf club is in honor of my stepfather who has passed. It was a Christmas present to him from me several years back.
The Desk (covered with some Stuff) The Toy Box (which was my daughter's first as a baby) and the Closet
And now since I am available, I think it is safe to show the ladies a peek inside my drawers, including a glimpse of my Giant-Size Man-Thing. Gentlemen, you may want to turn away.
Cabinet #1
Cabinet #2 with a bonus mini hoard shot and my Man-Thing
Cabinet #3 and #4 just odds and ends
hmm must have deleted one in the transfer
Finally a mini display in the bedroom - it didn't fit in the comic room and I know that it can't stay there if I ever expect to get any you know what now that I am on the make
Lastly, while not comic related - here is a piece of memorabilia from the early 60's. They were the first decorations that my mother and father bought when married because it looked just like them. They divorced when I was 5 and while I have had them for some time, they were put away. I have since rehung them in my closet since my divorce is pending because oddly enough they look like my wife and I a tiny bit in younger days. I hang them to remind me daily of the need to focus on my daughter as she undergoes the same change as I had. When purchased, they were a whopping $40 for the set as the price is still on the back.

Lucked out at an antique mall and picked up an Uncanny #266 in about a 9.4 for $2.25 - I am outta town in Columbus, MS and had been complaining that there wasn't any comic books in this damn town and what do ya know -
Also picked up at the same place
Uncanny #212 and #213 approx 9.2 $4 each -
Secret Wars #8 - approx 9.2 $13
That #266 was the winner - the others were just some books I needed in the run - the Secret #8 is one of those hoard books for me

A big hearty THANKS to almoe for our latest Xmen transaction.
Al sold me a HUGE pile at dirt cheap prices, and about bankrupted
himself with the awesome packaging and eating the additional
postage.
Thanks again.
Phil
Your very welcome Phil - I am very glad they arrived safe!

almoe for a bunch of ASM deals and some generous freebies.
Lebowski for a sweet Little Dot gift ( you now no longer have to be embarrassed to be in possession of it). Thanks, dude!

I was telling my daughter that when I was her age, I would hide about ten megos under my pillow when I went to bed. As soon as the mom was outta the room, out they came to fight crime and keep a young boy wide awake until the wee hours of the morning - I thought I was swift, but certainly when mom came in the next morning the site of ten megos all over the bed had to be a give away.
Now only if I could find ten megos under my faughters pillow

Love it Genrizod especially the Mike Schmidt - now thats a Superman for ya - ahhh stuck in 1980 all over again

I like the way your displaying your fallen son books, very nice.
Thanks Parch - that way I don't have to worry about any UV damage - I did it via Wal-Mart online and just created a poster. I had tried to do the same thing with them at the store for 8x10 pics of some scans of my favorite books, but they wouldn't do them because of copy rights

I wish I had mine that long - I bought them on ebay for I think like $2 each

Well here is my little cornor / closet of the comic world. It started out as a fishing trophy room (didnt take that part of the room) -
then became a comic room
Now has become the wifes home office

Wow, that was some response. I am not writing this to start a problem and I am sure that you take your organizations reputation very seriously.
With that said, I find a defending post citing Works of Life Intl. Ministries and the statement, "That is one step below idiotic" describing a comment to be a bit offensive.
Just my two cents, but insulting folks wouldn't seem like a good way to garner donations.

Just wanted to give Kudos to BeachBum
My package was here in like two days after payment! Thanks
