POV,

 

The strange thing is that the book appears perfect except for the spine -

looks like it was never opened (at least through the slab). My untrained

eyes don't see anything special about the "fabric".

 

I would suggest giving CGC a call and seeing if you can send it to them for a truly definitive answer, coupled with really SPECIFIC reasons - not conjecture but basic repeatably provable reasons, why it recieved that PLOD.

The only thing I can add to this thread is that I believe most all the 10 cent comics at least since Action #1 have been stapled, or "saddle-stitched" as it is sometimes called. During the extreme metal rationing of WWII, sometimes books were given a single staple rather than 2.

 

The comics that were glued were the 15 cent format larger books. Among the ones in this category are

- World's Finest Comics

- Comic Cavalcade

- America's Greatest Comics

- All-Hero Comics (1 shot)

 

I'd imagine the Big All-American would also fall into this category.
