Considering how tighter they have been over the past few months, some of those grades on those books do not make any sense :censored:

Oh, I'm thinking they make perfect sense.

The only two books I managed to win from that Zillaf4 auction were pretty sweet. They were both Avengers books and one slabbed at a 9.4.

I think alot of those books presented very nice based on his scans and for the most part were undergraded by the seller.

Still kicking myself for not bidding higher on that Cap book doh!

No doubt. There were some very pretty books offered. What has surprised me is the levels they graded out at after being worked on...

Take Iron Man #21 Double Cover for example. Zilla description:

IRON MAN #21 FINE 6.0 / VF+ 8.5 DOUBLE COVER 1970

Now it shows up slabbed as a 9.8. I don't think he's that bad of an overgrader...

My few experiences with him show otherwise.

1 Invaders #1 bought as a VF - graded at a 9.8

2 Avengers #62 bought as a VF+ - graded as a 9.4

3 Warlock #12 bought as a VF/NM - sold and graded at a 9.6

These are just a few off the top of my head

I had similar results as well. F+ and VF- books that got 9.4s. Weren't there also quite a few books that Zilla submitted to CGC as "examples" when he listed the "Fire Lake Collection" for sale that had super high grades as well.

Wish I had bought more or had the money to take the risks that some of those guys did.

I think it was specifically Nik mention their name that drove their prices through the roof. After the boardies got wind of it he started to slab a lot of his stuff.

Thanks Nik.

What are we supposed to be seeing here?

Well, from where I'm sitting...'Grades That Should Never Be'. (shrug)

Morel like another pressing thread.

Damn, you beat me to it.

Where's Donut with his battle cry?

With Louise out of the way I'm able to stay on top of this stuff more efficiently.

:acclaim:

I do miss her though.

Why are you wearing greggy's avatar. Has Louise been gone that long?

The question is why aren't you wearing greggy's avatar.

6 days.

2 Avvengers GS Annual1 at VF that came back NM+ 9.6

A Thor something or another 226 maybe, VF/NM 9.8

Yes Jim, the guy undergrades that much.

Maybe he does...but the scans clearly prove he didn't undergrade to the level these Firelake books were graded at. And it's clear they went through the improvement process to include cleaning previous to submission...

And some grades are clearly whacked even after submission. That front cover to the IM DC is 9.4? Not with the wear around the price box it's not. There are some very generous grades given to this lot...
