FK, look at it from my point of view, would you be thrilled if someone posted they will take it less than a min after listing, and then immediately starts talking about returning the item?

As a seller, aren't you trying to avoid returns as much as possible as well? Isn't it a fair thing to ask that the buyer look at the very clear pics closely, ask any questions before buying, so as to hopefully avoid the possibility of a return?

I don't see what i've done wrong here.

I've been selling/trading in comics/art for over 20 years. Virtually every single major dealer know's me by name/face. I have helped write numerous articles on the hobby and fandom. I was once asked by Steve Borock before CGC existed to be the restoration expert, instead I recommended my good friend Chris Friesen. I could go on.

Who are you?

I really don't want to pizz all over your thread so I won't respond, other than to say I'm an Overstreet Advisor and someone known by almost all major dealers. I didn't say you did a thing wrong, just expressing what my level of comfort was in doing the transaction. I did not feel comfortable and you asked that all things be clarified before the transaction went through. Don't post I didn't look at the scan when that's not what I said, i said I went back and took a closer look -- and decided to avoid even the possibility of a return.

I don't mean to sound down on these books, if fact I think they are mind-blowing. But from the time I started selling here I was told many times to very carefully grade my books. There were times when I put up a 9.2 on a book and was informed it was more 8.0. I'd say 9.4 --and people would say 9.0. So, I studied, and studied more and I learned.

I learned a lot about grading at least from 7.0 up. Below that is tougher for me.

The point of all this is that I think these books and generally over-graded, beautiful books for sure but the grade....?

For example...

ASM #30 9.0-9.2--look at the top left corner--I'd say no more than 8.0

ASM #31 8.5--I'd say 7.5

ASM #43 9.2---I'd say 8.0

ASM #46 9.0---can't see better than 8.0

X-Men #51 9.4---excellent book but has enough flaws to make it 9.0

JIM #112 8.5--I think 7.5

Now...unless you are going to tell me that there is one standard for Bronze and Modern and ANOTHER for Silver. Then I'll stand by my thinking on grading.

Truth is had I not spend my book capital this month I might very well of bought a couple of these great books.

YOU SHOULD NEVER CRITICIZE anyone's grading in their thread on their thread....that's something I learned the hard way......hopefully you don't have to learn the same way (shrug)2c

Truth be told yes, there are different standards for grading GA to SA to BA etc..

You are definately entitled to your opinion on grades but doing so in another persons selling thread is just bad manners. Some of us miss grades while holding the book in hand sometimes let alone grading based on scans doh!

Hello Boop, not sure how i'm supposed to respond to this.

I'll try: Thank you for taking the time to grade the books for me. Obviously grading is subjective, even if CGC are the ones doing it.

I find it interesting how 'my' thread has gone from an attack on me for, you got it, -Accepting returns-, to now a grading forum post - unlike any others i've seen.

That being said, if you feel the books are overgraded, you are under no obligation to buy any of them.

I wonder if someone were to buy a book from me and it was actually UNdergraded -according to CGC- (I know, perish the thought) the person would pay me the difference in value I would be losing?

Probably not.

Boop, if you have any books that are of comparative grade to mine, but using your grading and priced like mine at far below GP in line with your grading, please let me know, I am always buying.

Thanks!

True also depends on your taste, I dont mind creases so much but I dislike soft corners. I like sharp looking books physically and color wise. Couple small creases and bends dont hurt imo.

Please forget I said anything guys. Bad from on my part.

I am surprised at a couple of things---diferent standards for SA, BA, CA and Modern, seems very unfair to me.

These books are CGC graded? Yet they are not slabbed? How can this be? Please inform me.

Still great books.

Thought I would add a couple more 'overgraded' books to the thread. ;\)

18. Amazing Spiderman #52 Off-White PQ 8.5 maybe nicer? (this book would be a solid 9.2 in my mind if not for the NCB bend on the upper left BC - see scan) GPA $133 Your Price $100 shipped!

:takeit:ASM 52. I will take it
