Dark Avengers Sketch Cover MEGATHREAD

You guys are calling these pieces "sketches". My question is were these all obtained via conventions? Or were many of them commissioned pieces that the artist completed in their studios?

My reason for asking is the detail on some of these pieces is incredible, and I just can't concieve that an artist at a convention has the time to complete at the convention ..unless of course it is dead.

Most of the sketches I've gotten are done at shows, but there are some that were done at the artists house/studio. The witnesses here are great about setting up opportunities with artists that may not do shows anymore. For example, Doug Mahnke, John Romita Sr., and Anthony Castrillo all did sketches from their studios:

Most of my sketches are convention sketches and I really think that their ability to do sketches during a convention is really a testament to their ability.

BTW, I'm a silent admirer of your work. Keep it up.

Here's one from Tone Rodriguez colored by Laura Martin. Big thanks to fingerprint_ink (Jesse) for getting the Rodriguez sketch for me. (worship)

I'm a sketchcover slut. Any way I can get it!

I'll have a friend get them @ cons.

I'll have a friend commission some @ cons.

Buy off of ebay.

Buy off of here.

Commission from here.

Commission from DeviantArt.

Trade.

Buy from publisher (ie. AvatarPress, DynamicForces, etc)

Some done @ home, some done @ cons - I have a few that were done in bars over alchohol & wings (which possibly explains why my name is spelled wrong in @least 1 of them by somebody that's known me for almost 20yrs ha ha ha).

We call them sketches, but we know some of them aren't. We just call them that because they are on sketch covers & it's less confusing (in theory).

The covers that you had Laura play w/ - Did you approach her @ a con like Daniel does (assumed) or contact her via web 1st? I'm thinking about having her play w/ some & am debating sending some to a con w/ somebody or sending them privately.
