Boba
second tier books like that or SC #4 do not deserve to be discussed in the SC #22 thread. It is the FF #1 of SA DCs. It's ok, being a DC'er most my life, I'm used to the abuse

showcase22gr1959
Set up your own SC #23 and SC #24 thread if you want to talk about it.......second tier books like that or SC #4 do not deserve to be discussed in the SC #22 thread. Let's cheer DC's. Keep the focus.......there are just as many crappy DC books as Marvel. All I say.
showcase22gr1959
Somebody just listed this today if anyone needs and upgrade. Showcase 22 CGC 5.0 cream pages. http://cgi.ebay.com/Showcase-22-Oct-1959-CGC-5-0-First-silver-Green-lantern-/190496169112?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c5a74dc98 Edited January 30, 2011 by showcase22gr1959
Boba
I was looking at that. Doesn't it seem high considering the cream pages?
showcase22gr1959
It's an old label. Since it's not light tan/off-white pages, it has a shot for a cream to off-white pages. Nice looking 5.0 according to the scan.
Boba
Well, it's an auction-style listing, so we'll have to wait and see Interesting that these are starting to come out of hiding.
showcase22gr1959
The last recorded 5.0 sale is on 8/10 for $3K and it definitely will be interesting to see if a record price for a 5.0 will happen with just one bid. Boba
Might be a good selling strategy, a red-hot key, scarce in grades higher than 4.5, listed auction-style on ebay with a starting price just outside the edge of reason
showcase22gr1959
This one happen to be price in means. Did you notice his other books are price out of line and very high. He price the SC22 5.0 out of line with the OSPG and happen to be near FMV.

Old label 5.0 with cream just might be a CR/OW 5.5 and a steal at $3600

Masamune69
eBay have discount on auction style item this week end if I remember well. The guy probably list his items higher than he thinks they costs. He have nothing to loose. However I do think the SC22 he is selling will be sold

Boba
Well...I say someone bid on it before he cancel it and decide to keep it. And be the 1st on the planet to pay quadruple-guide for a SC #22 Sounds tempting to me

Now only if you can see in hand to make the call.
kimik
Based on my experience in resubbing old label books, it will come back as a CR/OW. If the bends/creases on the right side visible in the pics are pressable, then it has a good shot at a 5.5 as well (and on the right day maybe a 6.0).......... Now only if you can see in hand to make the call. It's a tough call. My other book's a 4.5, OW/W, so it's VERY close. If resubbed and nothing changed, it's only a .5 bump in grade and a drop in PQ. I was really hoping for a 6.
