I still believe firmly that we should all be voting for the ones that we dislike the most. Not choosing specifically from the beginning, middle, or end.

I try to give equal attention, beginning to end. In the first round I ended up with about 60 covers, well distributed throughout, which I thought were very weak, and I had to think quite hard to narrow the shortlist down. At the lower end, quality-wise, there wasn't much to separate out one from another at this stage. For example, for artists I'm not that keen on, such as Carmine Infantino, I thought extra hard about any work posted here. After a bit of effort I still couldn't get into his Batman covers and I voted many of them off, retaining the ones that I thought were well-designed images, but conversely I found I really liked many of his Flash and Mystery in Space covers.

 

In the second round, having done most of the hard work first time out, I found it much easier to eliminate the 30 worst. Basically a process of voting off the rest of my drek list, the ones held over from last time, and finding that my extra choices to pad out the 30 were also very consistent.

 

I'm pleased to see Kubert's covers are so highly regarded.

 

Thanks for setting up the Survivor Series, Andy. I always find them very interesting and entertaining to think about and to assess as impartially as possible.
