OT: How I felt this Morning...

46 posts in this topic

It's been a really nutty year for weather.

Kitchener is on the edge of the snow belt and for the previous 12 years that I've lived here we've had long, hard winters. Very windy, lots of snow.

This year has been relatively balmy and light. Lots of sun and I've only shoveled the driveway once. That has never happened before.

I hardly have a place to make snow angels.

:insane:

I feel for you guys that have had snow dumped on you.

:foryou:

Roy,

Any news on that Fanelli kid, plays for the Kitchener Rangers....took that awful hit that fractured his skull like a month ago. I'm sure that was big news in your neck of the woods.

Mike

Snow? What's that?

The only way to get cold down here in Florida is to open your freezer door.

I did have to put socks on the other day though. I think it got down to the 50's last week.

Ah, but do you remember 1989?

I was there and it was the absolutely worst traffic jam I'd ever been in. Ever.

It took us about 9 or 10 hours to drive from the Georgia border to Ocala.

Highway 75 was standing still with an additional lane on either side formed for traffic (4 lanes standing still in each direction on a normally 2 lane highway) and there were cars parked on the side of the road on a 45 degree angle like it was a parking lot. This went on for over 70 miles.

When we finally decided to pull off the expressway to take a side road down, we saw a line up at a bathroom (corner store) that was about as long as a foot ball field.

It was insane. I've never seen anything like it since.

This coming from a guy who lives in Canada where it never seems to stop snowing.

That is what happens when snow hits anywhere south of Columbus, Ohio. Cleveland snow, wind, lake effect, no problemo. Columbus, meh...driver's get a little sketchy. Cincinnati gets snow and it goes to Defcon 2. Further south and you'd think people never seen the white stuff before.

We actually got dumped on this weekend. Saturday morning, was heading home from the casino about 7:45 am in my friend's Dodge Ram 1500, coasting at about 40 mph, few people on the roads and what do I see? One guy in a Civic doing about 55 in level 3 conditions. doh! And some poor shmuck in a minivan about 50 yards in front of us who did 2 full rotations, rear ended a guard rail and proceeded to slide about 40 feet down the length of the guardrail before turning around and heading off on his merry way.

Mike, I know this is going to sound like sacrilege but I don't follow hockey and I hardly watch TV.

I'll see what I can find out.

Ben Fanelli. Plays defense for Kitchener. He had his head rocked off the boards and then struck the ice. F-ed him up pretty bad. Fractured his skull, could have died. I just haven't been able to find any news about his recovery. Was hoping he was getting better is all.

I know you don't actively follow hockey. You're too busy gobbling up comics you geek.

Lou, her son Julian and her ex are big into hockey because Julian is quite the hockey superstar. I think he met the rangers a few weeks ago.

I'll see what I can find. After I'm done geeking out here.
