I usually have a laptop bag on my shoulder. I keep book purchases and sketches inside (usually inside top-loaders), and drinks/other stuff in the outside pocket for easy access.

 

That's exactly what I used to do. A good sized laptop bag can hold a lot of comics and is much easier to deal with and more crowd-friendly than a backpack. When I was conning, a good day for me would be 15-20 bagged and boarded pre-codes, which would all fit nicely in the laptop bag. .
