Whirlwind Comics #1

Post obsolete, item no longer for sale here, moved item to Ebay.

Whirlwind Comics #1, June 1940, Nita Publications. Here is a rare book that does not come up too often. A Gerber #8. Only a couple of these have ever sold via the Heritage Auction as well, so they are pretty scarce. Overall condition is about a 3.0 (g/vg). Decent page quality, still supple. The book has three staples, yet only two of them are through the front cover, the third one holds all of the folios together. In my opinion all of the staples look original to the book and the odd one was probably part of the bindery process. This book was mailed out of Holyoke Mass. and that printer did some weird things from time to time. They were the folks that put together the 56 page Suspense, Terrific, Captain Aero, and a few Catman comics by gluing single pages to folios.

A little bit of a darker shadow around the front cover margin, something was laying on top of most of this book for a long period of time except for the exposed margins I am guessing. Major problem areas for the book are a spin split from the bottom up to about the mid point of the book. Bottom staple is still attached to the cover however. It's not gorgeous, but it's not hideous either. Priced a little above guide due to the scarcity:
