10 posts in this topic

DOLPH LUNDGREN appears at 1:00 P.M. on the LOS ANGELES COMIC BOOK AND SCIENCE FICTION CONVENTION Stage on SUNDAY, MAY 2, 2010 to speak about his latest Movies such as COMMAND PERFORMANCE, ICARUS, and this summer's Major Action Movie THE EXPENDABLES reuniting DOLPH with Sylvester Stallone and featuring a cast that includes Jason Statham, Jet Li, and Mickey Rourke.

DOLPH is the real deal as an Action Star at 6'6" and with a 3rd degree Black Belt in Kyokushin Karate. DOLPH is thought of as being Russian, but he's actually from Stockholm, Sweden.

DOLPH's breakthrough role came as the Russian Boxer Ivan Drago in ROCKY IV and he quickly moved to starring roles in MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE (as He-Man), THE PUNISHER (as Frank Castle and based on the Marvel Comic Book), RED SCORPION, SHOWDOWN IN LITTLE TOKYO, MEN OF WAR, JOHN WOO's BLACKJACK, and many others. DOLPH has starred in many Science Fiction Movies such as JOHNNY MNEMONIC, DARK ANGEL, RETROGRADE, UNIVERSAL SOLDIER, and the just released UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: REGENERATION. DOLPH is Writing and Directing in addition to Starring in his current Movies such as DEFENDER, ICARUS (Both as Director and Star), THE RUSSIAN SPECIALIST, MISSIONARY MAN, and COMMAND PERFORMANCE (all as Writer, Director, and Star).

There will be a Special Screening of COMMAND PERFORMANCE at 11:00 A.M. which is Written, Directed, and Stars DOLPH LUNDGREN. The Movie is a Die Hard at a Rock Concert. There will also be a Screening of DIRECT ACTION at 3:30 P.M. with DOLPH Starring as Veteran Cop Frank Gannon of the Direct Action Task Force. DOLPH LUNDGREN appears on Stage at 1:00 P.M.

Speaking of the Real Deal, the LOS ANGELES COMIC BOOK AND SCIENCE FICTION CONVENTION is one of the few remaining credible area shows with over 350 being held in 33 years. Take a look at the Photo Gallery under Past Shows to see just a small number of Guest Speakers that have appeared at www.comicbookscifi.com. The table rates are the lowest, the load in is easy, there's plenty of restaurants, and the show is across the street from one of L.A.'s top colleges, USC. In addition, the area is being built up with the new Regal Cinemas and two new hotels.

So if you have Comic Books for sale, you have a better chance to make money here. If you're looking for Comic Books to buy, you have a better chance to walk away with a deal. You might not find DETECTIVE COMICS#27 or ACTION COMICS#1, but there's plenty of variety on the Comic Books at reasonable rates. The LOS ANGELES COMIC BOOK AND SCIENCE FICTION CONVENTION has a low admission rate so Collectors can spend their money on their hobby. Sure there's no pipe and drape, or carpeting, and the building is a historical landmark. But then admission is only $8.00. Check www.comicbookscifi.com for current Dealer Rates. The show is located at Shrine Auditorium Expo Center, 700 West 32nd Street, in Los Angeles. Show Hours are 10:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M.

When I read all the details of this, I see Dolph is only scheduled to sign for 45 minutes anyway, to the premium ticket holders. So, while he's not "charging" for his autograph, any facilitator like me (if somehow we got authorization for this) would have to tack on at least $20 plus some extra money to get someone to sit and try for the autograph.

I saw the announcement and wondered if there was interest for a Dolph SS book. Maybe he'll show up to a convention or two if this goes well. I'll probably be in LA that weekend anyway for Free Comic Book Day, maybe I'll stick around and see Dolph in person. :)
