who is a member of SS archival safe pen club?

lol

Well excuse me for trying to make sure the ink used doesn't Accelerate damage to the book.
Writing on the cover is the exact opposite preservation. In fact it can accelerate damage from mint to destroyed in about 2 seconds regardless of what you use.

When you submit a book for SS the intrinsic value no longer resides in the state of preservation but in the appreciation for the signer. IMO anyways.

Because the yellow label while fabulous as it may be is a qualified label. To me it means this comic 'would be' the given grade had someone not written on it. The 'actual' technical grade of the book remains unknown. I would even say that the intrinsic value of a SS books also heavily lies in the authentication of the signature as seen in prices realized on yellow vs green labels (with a sig being the qualifier).

So..you don't collect signature series books.... is that what you're saying?
I definitely collect SS books, im a huge fan of SS books, the program and everyone involved. Im packaging a box as i type to overnight to chandler. I have no intent to bash.

My point was just that writing on a comic (even if it is loved by the beholder) is not in any way analogous to preservation regardless of what kind of marker is used.

Wait, are we actually worried about whether the signature/book will last for 100+ years?

Why? It all comes to an inglorious and insignificant end on December 21, 2012.

Which is a Wednesday, by the way...

I prefer my signatures on the cover. I don't care what kind on marker they are signed with. Something everybody should realize is creators and celebrities will pass away long before the books will be gone. Without creators and celebrities we wouldn't have pop culture. Without pop culture we wouldn't have comics. Without comics we wouldn't have this discussion. It all goes back to the individual who breathe life into a product.
