Why are first apperances considered so much more attractive than 2nd and 3rd?

Just look at the price difference for instance between 1st Gobby and 2nd Gobby.

I mean in principle: is a 2nd appearance not technically 'a half' (50%) 1st apperance?

In this view ASM #1 should then be 'a half' AF15 pricewise ... and it aint !

In the same way third Subby should be a 1/3 (33%) of 1st subby.

But the market does not reply to that logic.

Why is the 1st appearance surrounded by this almost mythic aura?

A second appearance isn't a first appearance in the slightest--it contains zero percent first appearance. First appearances are surrounded by a mythic aura because it's the inception of something noteworthy...it's the same reason people celebrate their birthday, not the day after their birthday. :makepoint:

The only reason ASM 1 is anywhere close to AF15 is because of that stupid number "1" on the cover, and to a lesser extent, because it's the first Fantastic Four crossover and the first appearance of J. Jonah Jameson...it has less to do with it being a second appearance.
