TWD TV SHOW--Offical Discussion Thread
4 4

10,800 posts in this topic

I have to say I avoid this thread until after I've watched the most current episode. Don't want to risk any intentional or unintentional spoilers. The only alternative is to create a TV thread with spoilers and one without. But that seems like a waste.

It is a waste of time.

Just like everyone's been wasting time arguing about this.

What's so hard about using spoiler tags for the first few days?

We are all here, first and foremost, for comic books - right? Well if that's what they do on the comic threads, we can do that here too. That way people can discuss the episode RIGHT AWAY, you just have to click on a spoiler tag for revealing information for a few days.

Woah is me.

How many days? 1? 3? 7? 14? I will probably use spoiler tags for the first week. But I won't be in the thread until I've watched the episode anyway out of concern that someone spoils it.

I've done the same thing. I am actually careful of what I look at in this thread at all and at any time. Most people are courteous enough to not post spoilers before the show airs, but the climax of the first half of last season was ruined right here on this thread for many people, including myself. So I tread very carefully around this thread. This is a board of social misfits anyway, so we've all been warned.

Personally, I wait until our UK brothers have had at least one showing on their TV's before I talk opening without tags. It's just a spoiler tag, a simple click of the mouse....not even a double click. It's the least I can do for our limey friends. And it's the freaking interwebs, if clicking is a problem then I suggest shuffleboard or animal husbandry as alternative time wasting outlets.

It's a balance of personal caution and personal respect. Everyone makes that call on their own I guess. You can't get too shocked when someone does something here with no thought towards anyone else.

It would be like working in the monkey house and being shocked at getting hit in the face with flying feces. You should be on your guard going in.

"first few days" = 3 days or so. Just like the "first few days" means 3 days or so in comic threads. :o

I'm done arguing this on here.

I'd much rather talk about the episode than this.

I guess many of us feel we don't need to bend over backwards to accomodate you.

Has anyone else thought of this? Andrea appears to be attracted to Mr. Governor. In the comic, it's a woman that the Governor orders to kill Lori. What if she stays at Woodbury, doesn't reunite with the group? What if SHE is the one that kills Lori and her baby when they attack the prison? I know, thin...

Wow! Come on guys stop arguing. It's been 4 days! Can't we just stop. I'm sorry I posted a spoiler and ruined for a couple people. I'm really not here to ruin anything for anyone, but I did think this was a TV show thread. Some people live in other states and countries, but I agree don't come into the thread and not expect to see spoilers.

Anyways let's stop bickering and talk about the show...

4 days?!?! It's turning into a resentment. Let it go.

I can't wait to see how this all plays out. The brothers on different sides. Andrea who may still resent the others for leaving her at the farm. Could be a great point in the season.

Where did you come from?

Accomodate me, or people not from the United States, or people who just came into the thread for the first time.

What ever floats your boat. (thumbs u

That twist with Andrea would be CRAZY!!

Noobs who haven't been here as long as the thread laying the law down. Noobs who say spoilers weren't discussed before, when they were straight after the first episode of season one.

This place has gone to mess.

Grow up.

lol

That wasn't even aimed at you. It was actually falling on your side of the argument but hey ho, there ya go.

lol

Plus, she was never too fond of Lori. However it's done, I want Lori gone and quick.

Also, the helicopter pilot alluded to a "post" which is what Army bases are called, he was also using his communication equipment, was he in contact with anyone? So it had to have been a base with probably hundreds of personnel, I'm sure there are dozens of soldiers still out there. Doubt they will continue this story arc further but it could be a pretty good storyline.

The way I understood it is that they had to leave their post because they some of their guys got bit. He went up in the chopper to scout ahead because they ran into a pileup on the highway. Thus, they were hanging out on the side of the road like sitting ducks when the Governor arrived.

The communication equipment was most likely used to talk to the other guys in the chopper. He did say "i've got us through rougher rides than this" or something like that.

I just finished watching the episode last night, 3 days after it aired. What I dont do is come into a thread I know where the show will be discussed because there's a possibility of seeing a spoiler without the spoiler tag, therefore spoiling the episode that I dont want spoiled.

Anyways, here's my thoughts. I'm sure they've been discussed already but I havent read the last 30 pages of this thread.

Two big problems with this episode, there is absolutely no way they would have taken out those soldiers so quickly. The soldiers were already living on a post as the pilot described so they already were surviving and would have had a perimeter in place with fields of fire for each man, the governor wouldn't have been able to just drive up without being stopped or his car shot up. These guys are trained to deal with all sorts of caca, they wouldn't have been all sitting around in one spot together.

It could have led to an interesting story arc, the governor and his men are repelled, each side possibly losing a couple of men and now you have Rick, the governor, and the soldiers out there not knowing who to trust.

Second part was I agree with is that they should have eased into the governor and his brutality; gradually. Maybe even lead the viewers in believing he really is a good guy. Someone in his position would have to rule with an ironed fist but they didn’t have to jump the gun.

Yeah, that was way too easy. Not one of them even returned fire. They just stood there. Weak.

This is corect and shows why the writing for the tv show is poor
