Fake CGC label on Hulk #181 !!!

Look at the 2nd picture and it is a dead give away. When has CGC ever capitalized the word "PAGES?" NEVER!!! mad.gif insufficiently_thoughtful_persons! tongue.gif

 

I just emailed him with this:

What makes you think the label is a fake? Even if the label is not a fake, making it a private auction, along with the description, leads me to the conclusion that this is a perfect canidate for shilling. mad.gif

 

How did you like the part about selling it for someone else? If I remember correctly, CI posted that as one of the auction "lines" to watch out for...

This guy messed up big time and i'll list them below:

 

Correct CGC label:

 

OFF-WHITE TO WHIITE Pages

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

 

Compare mistakes to above example.

 

Mistake 1)Seller wrote PAGES in capital letters.

Mistake 2)Seller wrote OFF WHITE instead of "OFF-WHITE"

Mistake 3)The page quality is always aligned to the right of the serial number and not perfectly centered over the serial number like this bozo has it.

I just went into detail since you asked, but the private auction and the pics were a dead giveaway.

 

1)First picture is a scan which is perfectly clear (probably stolen).

2)The second & 3rd pic is from a digital camera and are intentionally made blurry.

Hey rickdogg,

 

Another thing I noticed is that the book I have that is graded with OFF-WHITE TO WHITE Pages............the letters used to denote this are small enough that the words don't extend past the left most or right most serial numbers.

 

In his scan, the page quality designation goes WAY behond the serial numbers on both the left and right side.

 

If you look in the "full book" picture.....you'll notice the same thing. I think all the pictures are of this fake book and that his camera is just really crappy about taking close up shots.

 

Also, for this early in a ten day auction, with a book that doesn't have WHITE pages, the bidding is WAY too high. SHILL......SHILL......SHILL.

You can almost make out the CGC numbers. It looks like:

 

0113?17?12

 

which, I figure has to be:

 

0113?17012 - since the last three digits is the number of the comic in the invoice. Going with that, we get:

 

0113017012 - none

0113117012 - none

0113217012 - none

0113317012 - none

0113417012 - none

0113517012 - none

0113617012 - Hulk 223 9.4

0113717012 - Ultimate SM 9.8

0113817012 - none

0113917012 - none

 

So, nothing there. I asked him to email me the number, but I doubt I will hear from him. Anyone else have any ideas?

Also the first scanned picture is not the same book that is in the third picture. You can tell by the very top right corner. The scan pic has the "K" right to the corner. The 3rd pic has the "K" to the right of the corner.

I don't see any difference in them. How can you see that closely on his tiny full book scan?

I got email back from her, she said she was ending it because of confusion about the label. She claimed she didn't know what number to look for. Well, how many other numbers are on the CGC label?
