Has Anyone Dealt With Tom McMurren ???

65 posts in this topic

I have spoken to several of the major collectors back in Denmark,

including the long time owner of one of the biggest stores in the country,

about Ian's experience and all of them have - like me - felt frustrated

and angry about it. Noone has ever heard of the seller before (which

is very unusual since collectors who have been around for several

decades tend to know each other in a small country) and his stunt

has given a bad name to all of the wonderful and honest fans back

home, making it harder for us to deal on eBay.

How dare anyone hold it against all the Danes for the actions of one man! Imagine if all of America were judged by Dupcak or someone of his ilk. Every country has its bad apples. That just isn't right at all.

I don't care. The only way that my rage and anger will be satisfied is if they can produce a Buzzy #70 for Ian. Until then, they will be lumped together with the fraudulent seller and they can all rot. sumo.gif

Well at the end of the day, I got my money back from Lars Pedersen.

And my More Fun 10 arrived from Tom McMurren after two months.

So the moral of this story is that it MUST be right to kick up a fuss if a seller doesn't send you what you've paid for.

After Ian's recent experiences with seller scarce2rare, I was a bit hesitant

when I saw this ($3K/$4K BIN) on eBay listed as FN/FN+.

I was interested in bidding but decided to check to my references first.

I found the book as lot 2841 in Greg Manning's June 9, 2001 catalog:

He bought it from Heritage auction. link

It's weird that they didn't mention those interior defects either.

Ian,

I am very glad to hear that you got your money back so quickly and

that you got the More Fun 10 as well. I felt confident that you'd get

the latter but frankly never believed you'd have gotten the payment

for the Detective Comics back.

Arty,

That's scary - I now remember looking at that book at Heritage' site and

even posting a question about it in the grading forum. I decided it was

a little overgraded (I am patiently waiting for a FN/VF to come up) and

did not bid. Given your info, it is pretty clear that scarce2rare is not at

fault - he probably never noticed the missing piece and likely paid more

to Heritage than he should have.
