Best Galactus Battles?

Have to chime in for the obvious - FF48-50 (really 49 & 50, as Galactus doesn't show up till the end of #48).

It's a deserved classic - in ANY storytelling medium.

 

To not mention it would be like talking about that Danish play without mentioning

Hamlet.

I liked the Galactus vs. roller coasters that happened in Fantastic Four 122.

 

Visually, yes... but the Big G seemed a bit out of character... he usually doesn't care about the human insects and is not so bothered by them.

Don't get me wrong... it was probably my favorite Galactus story as a kid... just saying how being an adult can ruin an otherwise good story...

I always loved 243 though, where the big G. man falls and Reed looks almost stunned at himself for having to utter those immortal words: WE HAVE TO SAVE GALACTUS! Doesnt get any better then that!! And then of course Frankie Raye becomes the new herald in the next issue, much to Johnny's dismay!

 

Yeah, that's GREAT stuff!!

If comics today were more like that, I'd still be buying them.

Though this is getting into Copper territory, I recall an incident in ROM where Galactus took on the Dire Wraiths' planet (# 27?).

 

And got his butt kicked !!

All I can see are books with red x's in them but that was a great arc. The cover of issue #208 is awesome and is defintely on my high grade want list.
