How a BSD could make a single comic collectible..

40 posts in this topic

I meant directing amateurs. Professional porn stars are too needy, from what I hear. gossip.gif Who needs the aggravation? 893frustrated.gif

I'd rather work for a living or be an amateur porn director to make my money, thankyouverymuch.

If you were making money at it, you wouldn't be an amateur. You'd be a pro! thumbsup2.gif

When did the comic market become a federally regulated industry?

Thanks for posting that...

So could a collector sue someone for cornering the ASM # 1 market?

Yeah, some people sue for some stupid [!@#%^&^]. The big difference is, one collector does not owe any kind of a duty toward other collectors unless they are involved in some sort of transaction between themselves, thus creating the duty. On the other hand, in California, we have this nifty statute called Business & Professions Code section 17200 that allows pretty much anyone (including someone who suffered no damage or harm) to file a lawsuit against another person who commits an unlawful, unfair, or deceptive business practice in California. The plaintiff cannot sue for damages, but can seek an injunction prohibiting the defendant from continuing the conduct and can seek an order granting restitution of any ill-gotten gains to those from whom the money or property was taken.

But I don't think cornering the market would fall under the test that the courts have set forth for Business & Professions Code section 17200. It's a loosey goosey standard, but not THAT loosey goosey.

OK, enough 893blahblah.gif893blahblah.gif893blahblah.gif893blahblah.gif. Someone say something interesting or I'm leaving. insane.gif

It's not...It'd be funny though. Hey, people sue cashiers for papers cuts from money changing hands now days...

But think if someone like B. Gates just jumped into the comic market for the helluva it...not content with owning just one issue of a single key...he wants ALL the CGC issues in high grade...Could anyone say no to Bill Gates and his unlimited bankroll?

Then, after which he executes the lesser copies Nuremberg style....I don't know maybe he wants to usher in the age of Fahrenheit 451, i.e. "This book, magazine, comic [!@#%^&^] has been around way too long...time for the Age of the Computers!"

But he wants to keep a slab for some ancient history museum he's planning. ...

Its pretty easy to do with anything low in # Take for 1 example Amazing Spider-Man original artwork Took two collectors feverishly hoarding it to drive it to stooooopid prices. Would be very easy to do with certain Golden Age books as well. Modern era all you need to look at is Valiant at the beginning of its crazy run up in price A few big distributors / specs bought up a chunk of the somewhat small print runs (by 1990's standards) viola Habringer 1 is a $100 Solar 10 is a $100 etc. With todays small print runs its pretty easy to do as well if you can guess right.
