Is cover detached and popped staple the same?

3 posts in this topic

Just wondering if cover detached from 1 staple is the same as popped staple, how will it affect grade, will detached from staple still receive a blue label? Thanks

I'll give this a shot, but I'm sure someone else will chime in:

A cover detached from 1 staple is the same as a "popped staple", except the phrase "popped staple" is often used to refer to a clean "pop", i.e., minimal to no accessory cover damage.

It will affect the grade depending on the overall condition of the book. In lesser grades, the defect will be incorporated into the overall grade and the book will receive a correspondingly lower Blue label grade (with a possible label notation). In higher grades the book may receive a Green Label, notation and higher qualified grade.
