I think we may need to revisit that rule, for a couple of reasons.

 

1) The Mods are rarely that quick on the draw...to see a violation and lock immediately. They usually need a notification.

 

2) Needing a notification means that a boardie saw the the infraction and humped the button. If one boardie saw it then everyone saw it. If everyone saw it and knew it was going to cause a lock the vulture circling feeding frenzy ensues meaning that the offending post is buried 1,000 posts back by people trying to get points.

 

Therefore, as I have clearly demonstrated, it will be nearly impossible for one of the last three posts to cause the lock in today's point-seeking climate.

there's a fine line. You almost need a judge on the moderator commitee. (sp?)

 

sometimes the mod explains why it was shut, but usually it's just a "enough is enough" type post. The blame is not always easily laid, even when it seems obvious.
