A few very nice golden age books - THREAD CLOSED

71 posts in this topic

Here are a few very nice Golden age books for your entertainment and titivation. My usual rule apply (yes, Billy, rulz!) Fully expect straw man parker to camp out here and thread cr*p without mercy and I deserve it! (In fact I'm looking forward to it, and you should too)

PLEASE READ THIS:

I am based in the UK. I am keeping shipping costs as low as I can though prices keep escalating seemingly month by month, and at these charges I am usually subsidising shipping. Here are the costs of shipping to the USA:

Raw comics: $8 by regular (uninsured) airmail or $18 insured expedited mail. Add $2 for each additional comic. UNINSURED PACKAGES SENT AT YOUR OWN RISK! But I have never, ever lost a package. (Though I'd prefer to send valuable packages by insured expedited mail.)

CGC comics $20 uninsured, or $28 via expedited mail plus $12 per addtional CGC item, maximum 3 CGC items per package.

If you combine CGC and raw items then I will only charge $2 each for the raw items.

:takeit: wins over pm's.

All non-CGC items may be returned if dissatisfied, but please note that I will only refund the cost of the item, not postage or packing either way. (The only exception will be if I have made a significant error in grading.) I will not accept returns of CGC items.

Hope that's all clear but if you have any questions please ask them before buying, not after!

PAYMENT BY PAYPAL OR INTERNATIONAL BANK DRAFT ONLY PLEASE!

No probies or trolls allowed. Everyone feel free to hang out, but bring your own beer and pizza.

WHO IS NEXT #5 8.0 White $635 SOLD!

Heavy price you say? Well, I'll listen to offers then.

Truth be told, this is what I paid for this cherub several years ago on the big H. I've since recently upgraded a notch thanks to C'link, but ironically paid a little less for the marginal upgrade thanks to C'link's poor auction calendar planning, which put them in competition with ComicConnect, Heritage, Thanksgiving, Christmas and the Easter Bunny. (I mean, I lost enough on the sales side that I had to do something to balance the scales, right?)

Anyone who doesnt know, this is a one shot devoted to cleaning women, I mean serial killers, serial killers!! Every story is a minor classic, in keeping with the cover. It is scarce, especially in higher grade.

Okay, Parker, whatcha gotta say, huh? Dont you dare be nice to me!

CAPTAIN MARVEL #18 CGC 6.5 $845

What a charmer. I love this book. Please dont buy it, just admire from a looong distance, and say to yourself, "It's okay, we dont have to be together, as long as I know you are somewhere in the world!"

And dont even think of lowballing neither. This is pretty much what I paid.

You know, you could save yourself a lot of trouble just by selling me those nice Planets you picked up. :baiting:

Splutter! You monomaniac, Jeff! Dont you realise I'm selling these to buy still more Planets! Yes, Planets I tell you! Or was that Catmans? A whoooole lot of Catmans. Hmm, let's see now. There were some Planets from GAtor and then, sometime later, some more Planets from.. oh, yes, GAtor. And after that there were some Catmans, a whoooole lot of them in fact, an' they were from...er, hmm, I forget. lol

Wow, I wish I had the funds for this right now. I don't think I've seen one available on the boards before.

Monomaniac... lol If only that were the case! I've avoided the Catmans, though, and will continue to do so if you'll fork over the Planets.

BLUE BEETLE #12 CGC 6.5 FN+ Off-White to White Pages 2nd Highest CGC Graded $875

1 of just 4 examples of this rare book that CGC has ever certified, and just 1 has certified any higher (at 7.0.) With a smooth tight appearance, bright colors, and no significant flaws, this example presents very, very nicely for the assigned grade. (Well, that's what C'link said and I thought it was eloquent!) Truth to tell it looks way better than 6.5.
