EST, PST, etc. are Standard Time

EDT, PDT, etc. are Daylight Time

 

Since we have turned the clocks ahead (Fall back, Spring ahead) we are in daylight saving time so we should be using EDT, PDT, etc.

 

EST = UTC - 5

EDT = UTC - 4

 

So...8pm PST would mean 9pm PDT and we are observing PDT at this time of year...

California

Idaho - western counties

Benewah, Bonner, Boundary, Clearwater, Kootenai, Latah, Lewis, Nez Perce, Shoshone and north part of Idaho

Nevada

Oregon - except most of Malheur county

Washington

CA will stay on PDT until Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 2:00 AM when clocks are moved to Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 01:00:00 PST

That's what I thought as well, learn something new everyday. hm
