Does this contain enough figures for two people to start playing right away?

The Xplosion box has 4 figures.

THe Fantastic Forces Boxes may have 2, 3, or 4 figures. ( I think)

Depends on the size of the figures.

You don't really need the "starter set" to play. Each of the figures are worth so many points and you make up 300, 500, 750, or 1,000 point armies.

 

Here is what I do with mine. I take off the clix base and attach a thinner base and put them in these.

What exactly is hero clix??

It's a table top game where you can make your own armies, even following comic teams like FF4, X-Men, Avengers, Justice League, etc. Each of the pieces are worth a certain point value in accordance to their abilities. So, Superman, Juggernaut, etc. would be heavy hitters and have a higher point value. You make 300, 500, 750, 1,000 point armies and you and your friend battle each other. You can even make teams of villains.

 

They are called Clix, because the base of the figures had a "clicking" base where you can turn it show damage you figure has taken, When it turns all the way it can go it is dead. Also, on the base are markings that show how many inches your figure can move in a turn and how strong they are along with energy projection and reach.
