It's the paper DC is using (IMHO). Creases and impresses very easily.

You're probably correct, but I have seen other books with similar paper quality that aren't dinged and creased like these. It must mean something that there seems to be the same defects, no matter what part of the country these copies come from....

Funny. My copy of the Robot Chicken variant had some strange indents as well. They were not where you would expect an indent. they were more in the center away from the edges like something was pressed against it hard.
