Thanks guys. The power is still out at my house and the temperature has dropped to 50 inside, which is way too cold for my little 6 month old, so we're staying with the in-laws.

Power was restored at my job, so I'll post a few books today.

WEIRD TALES

Volume 24, Number 2

August, 1934

Cover by Margaret Brundage.

This one has the 2nd Conan cover appearance, and it's my favorite of the three. Heck, it's one of my favorite Weird Tales covers of them all.

The cover story is the Conan story The Devil in Iron by Robert E. Howard.

There's also a Cthulhu mythos story included, The Isle of Dark Magic by Hugh B. Cave.

Also has the fourth Northwest Smith story, Dust of Gods, by C.L. Moore.

Also contains the popular story The Three Marked Pennies by Mary Elizabeth Counselman. From Wikipedia:

Her tale "The Three Marked Pennies," written while she was in her teens, and published in Weird Tales in 1934, was one of the three most popular in all of Weird Tales history. This oft-reprinted classic tells of a small town whose inhabitants awaken one morning to find anonymous notices posted throughout their city. The posts read, "During this day of April 15, three pennies will find their way into the pockets of the city. On each penny will be a well-defined mark. One is a square; one is a circle; and one is a cross. These three pennies will change hands often, as do all coins, and on the seventh day after this announcement (April 21) the possessor of each marked penny will receive a gift. To the first: $100,000 in cash. To the second: A trip around the world. To the third: Death."

This the first Weird Tales I ever bought (won on eBay). I sold it some time ago. doh! One day, I hope to find a super high grade copy of it to keep forever. The cover is Brundage pulp iconic perfection, and the Conan story is one of the best!
