Redfury's Weird Tales pulp collection

335 posts in this topic

I'd like to share my growing Weird Tales collection and didn't want to clog up the "I'll Pound You to a Pulp" thread, so I'm starting this new thread. I hope you enjoy it. :)

Very nice!

Did you win any of Frank Robinsons pulps at auction?

The Weird Tales entire group sold as one lot in the Robinson auction unfortunately.

I was hoping they wouldn't meet reserve and then be auctioned in smaller or even individual lots, but alas no. I bid on the Magic Carpets but came up short.

With the WTs out of play everybody had plenty of money to go big on everything else. No real bargains in that auctions.

But these were the Mile High of pulps, right?

Sort of. They weren't original owner pulps but he assembled one of the highest grade collections in existence.

So how close are you to completing your collection?

Getting there. I've been focusing on the era I consider to be the sweet spot, 1927-1938. I'll probably fill in 1925-26 and 1939-41 too, but they're lower priority. 1923-24 would be nice, eventually, but they're really tough.

The 1927-38 range has 140 issues. I have 108 of them, or 77%. Hard to believe I'm more than 3/4 of the way there.

These are really gorgeous copies Todd. :applause:

Thanks Jeff. I try for nice copies whenever I can, but sometimes I take what I can get and hope to upgrade later. For instance, the one I'm about to post has a big chunk missing from the cover. lol
