The Host (2013) - Trailer

The first trailer has been released for a new sci-fi alien film called The Host. The movie is an adaptation of the book written by Twilight author Stephanie Meyer, which is sure to turn many of you off. But the biggest selling point for me is the fact that it's being directed by Andrew Niccol, who directed the classic sci-fi film Gattacca. On top of Niccols directing the film is also has a solid cast that includes Saoirse Ronan (Hanna), Max Irons, Jake Abel, Diane Kruger, William Hurt and Frances Fisher.

The trailer doesn't really show much, and it gives us no indication on whether or not it could be a good movie or not. It really is just a tease that does nothing to perk my interest.

Here's a short synopsis:

Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact. Most of humanity has succumbed.

The movie is set to be released on March 29th, 2013. Watch the first teaser trailer and give us your first impression thoughts.

Battleship featurette - Goldilocks planets

The folks at SFX shared a cool Battleship featurette. A Goldilocks planet matchs the size of our sun and our orbit/distance from it. The idea is that those planets are most likely to have life. Earth attempts to contact these planets, so the aliens come to Earth invited.

We are currently sending out our location to these Goldilocks planets. Do you agree with Stephen Hawking that this is a very bad idea?

Synopsis:

In the Hawaiian Islands, an international naval fleet at Pearl Harbor engage in a dynamic and intense battle against an alien species known as "The Regents". The aliens come to planet Earth on a mission to build a power source in the ocean. Upon their visit, they come in contact with the naval fleet. The film is also purported to show both sides of the story, from the aliens' perspective, as well as the humans' so the audience knows exactly where the opponent's ships are.

LEGO short film "The Duel"

This could possibly be one of the greatest stop-motion LEGO action-packed short films ever made. Honestly, who here doesn't want to see a Lego Samurai awesomely slicing the hell out of a horde of opponents? The film is called The Duel, and it was extremely well made. The stop-motion is pretty amazing, especially for Legos. The action escalates to a great climatic battle at the end. Watch the video, and if you know of any better stop-motion LEGO shorts please let us know!
