Spider-Man 2 PS2 is Smokin'.... Thwipt!

O.K. I looked to see if there was a thread out there for this and if there is then sue me.

 

But hey, this game is awesome for those that want to be Ol'e Web Head.

 

This is a vast improvement over the last Spider-Man Movie game that was out in '02.

 

This game is the closest thing to being a GTA Superhero style to date.

 

The swinging logistics is to die for!

 

The mid-Air combos are just sick!

 

If you're not a Spidey freak (like-me) this game is definately an awesome rental.

 

(But it is a must have when the price drops to $25).

 

Why is this not worth $50? Well it's too repeditive for those that aren't diehards and it is a short game. I beat it in a weekend.

 

But I find it worth the $50 because I'm a comic fanatic and strangely enough I enjoy the repetitive ventures. Plus this game opens that doors for many cooler versions to follow. It's probably going to progress to a point where the game is like a marvel team-up styled and you can play any character in a given scenerio (man that would be a blast!)

 

Oh well, this game has been out a month so it is old news to most here, but I would definately give this game a 8 out of 10 (clearly the best superhero game I've played for a game console).

It is really fun, they got in right when they allowed the gamer to just thwwwppptt around the city all day long and fight crime, land on a Flagpole, or just cruise around and do nothing.

 

Total freedom .. and huge city to do it in.

 

glad to see they went with a GTA format.

I completed it to..man, what a great game...you can just spend all day swinging around the city and freefalling off the Empire State Building or any other of the skyscrapers in NYC...I also loved the fact that 'if you could see it, you could reach it' (like Lady Liberty!)

 

I've got an X-Box also, and now I'm sort of addicted to NCAA 2005 on-line....

I try to get in a good freefall at least once a day. My record drop is like 1,100 feet (so far) before I chicken out and shoot a line.

Yea, and you know where this is going to go... down the road a few versions from now

While battling the Vulture Spidey will be dropped from about a mile up in the air and there will be a combo where you have to make a Spidey shute then glide back down to NYC while avoiding the vulture's attacks.

Did anyone find the GAME ROOM where Spidey can go into? You get to play other games.

 

Anybody try Spidey Sling-shooting? Or hanging crooks on the lamp posts? Or swinging up to the passing copters?

Go pick up a copy. I've played every version of this Spider-Man game since the original one on Playstation, and Spider-Man 2 is a revolutionary step forward with regards to web-swinging. You can go anywhere in the city any time you want, including the ground. Most of the action happens on the ground; that's where the bad guys usually are! But you can play up on the rooftops if that's what you want. The webs now attach to specific buildings instead of just going off into some unknown, magic location in the sky, and the dynamics of the swing coupled with the control you've got over it is absolutely addicting!!! It's not a perfect game or anything and has flaws, but the web-swinging is just flat-out fun and MUCH better than any of its predecessors.

 

Like the other guys said, I quite often just play the game to swing around the city, and the game's design encourages you to freely go wherever you want the majority of the time. If you like Spidey, and you like the idea of feeling what it would be like to swing around like he does, this game is a must-buy. I started playing it over the past weekend, and all night Sunday night when I was away from home I couldn't stop thinking about that awesome feel the web-slinging gives you.

What's your favorite / least favorite A.I. voice over blurb?

 

Me I think I'm hearing "Geez Loise, it's always something in this town!" in my sleep!

I think they way over killed that one...

 

But no matter how man times I hear Spidey's retort -

NO YOOOOOOU Da Man! I always crack-up!

 

 

Also is it me or does the female crooks that Spidey fights in this game

moan like they're doing John Holmes when he whups 'em?!!

I tell ya what is really crazy...

 

You can make Spidey be a killer!

That's right! make Spider-Man commit murder in this game!

 

To do this just tackle the robbing thugs upon a rooftop

and do a web tossing combo.

 

The villians fall to their deaths!

I mean, there isn't anything gory or anything but if anybody falls from 700 to 800 foot drop on to

asphalt they're as dead a limp bacon.

 

You would think that the programmers would do something about this where if a villian is tossed it would just make them positioned on the edge of the roof, but hey I'm not complaining.

 

It's actually fun to do this. If you get a good tall building to toss them off of you can swing down and watch their decent. When they hit the ground, real physics kick in too because their bodies bounce high.

 

I would like in another version down the road where spidey can have a publicity gauge. With this the police and public can become more outraged if Spidey does stuff that is out of character. Almost like in GTA3 where the stars increased the heat of the police. You got to remember that this stuff was in the comic, so it would only add to the game.

 

Has anyone else noticed any more strange stuff in this game?
