I have the suspect that, due to the policy of Disney in the United States that eclipsed the fame of the immortal Disney characters, the few surviving Disney comics readers are either hardcore fans (especially of Barks) or normal people (not collectors) which do not visit these boards.

That’s the only explanation I have for the lack of love for Disney comics.

As for the rest: we are all turning into high-grade freaks. Ugh.

There are certainly a few Duck collectors here, but these probably didn't fall into the grade or issue range of what anybody needed.

Yes, I meant that: either Disney readers are collectors (and thus graade-savy) or normal people which aren’t here on the CGC forum.

The picture I posted is the very first Disney story fully produced in Italy, the root of our renowned Disney school, originally presented in 1937, but this is the first "comic book" edition, from 1938: http://coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=I+PG++++1-A

These later issues are tough to find, let alone in grade, so I’m very happy with my copy… :cloud9:

A curiosity: the story is one of the few very early stories which has also been published in the USA.

He’s been a landmark figure, he laid the basis for an italian school of authors, not only Disney authors.

He produced ten stories, some a little crude, some which still remains masterpieces. Among those, two Snow White stories which represent the earliest follow-up of the animated feature:

Besides "Donald Duck and the Mystery of Mars" (I have seen it has recently been reprinted in its original version in vol. 3 of the Fantagraphics collected Gottfredson Mickey Mouse) he wrote:

- Paolino Paperino inviato speciale (Donald Duck Special Reporter)

- Pippo viaggiatore di commercio (Goofy Salesman)

- Paperino e la pietra filosofale (Donald Duck and the Philosopher’s Stone)

- Clarabella fra gli artigli del diavolo nero (Clarabelle in the claws of the Black Devil)

- Paperino fra i pellirosse (Donald Duck among the Redskins)

- Biancaneve e il mago Basilisco (Snow White and the Sorcerer Basilisk)

- Paperino chiromante (Donald Duck Fortune Teller)

- I Sette Nani cattivi contro i Sette Nani buoni (The Seven Dwarves against the Seven Evil Dwarves)

- Paperino e il vaso cinese (Donald Duck and the Chinese Vase)

The second one is from 1952, but it was originally serialized in 1939. This, however, represent the first – and only – edition in comic book format.
