Five Ghosts

Hey guys,

Glad to see my find exciting some interest! It's definitely a cool piece of Five Ghosts history and very few people seem to have them.

I wanted to add that this particular ashcan is even rarer than I thought--I had lost track a bit of when I had made ashcans, but this one is ACTUALLY from C2E2 '12…predating the SDCC '12 ashcan. I had made ashcans for both, the C2E2 one is particularly unique as it only has the first 6 pages plus penciled pages--the SDCC one has inked pages as well, and an expanded page count that includes characters sketches and most importantly (for identification purposes!) A LETTERS PAGE that is dated 7/2012.

It's a bit late to amend the ebay auction as I don't want to confuse anyone, BUT--this is the rarer of the two by far. Why are these so rare? They are rare because a) I was using them to pitch publishers--I gave away a fair amount to various publishers and industry friends. b) most people who took them from me were TOTAL STRANGERS WHO COULD'VE CARED LESS. Most of these probably ended up on the floor of the con!

I've attached screenshots from email records to show the exactness of these ashcans as I figure it's time to have a hard document of exactly what is what/how many of each there are! So here it is: THE MASTER LIST:

1. Five Ghosts Promotional Ashcan - C2E2 - 16 Pages - 35 COPIES

2. Five Ghosts Promotional Ashcan - SDCC - 28 Pages - 30 COPIES

3. FIve Ghosts #1 - NYCC '12 Self-Published Edition - 40 Pages - 60 COPIES

4. Five Ghosts #1 - ECCC '13 Edition/Variant Cover - 40 Pages - 200 COPIES

5. Five Ghosts #1-5 - SDCC '13 Edition/Variant Covers (SET) - 50 COPIES

6. Five Ghosts #6 - NYCC '13 Edition/Variant Cover - 200 COPIES

I would amend the ebay auction and add in the information you just posted above so people know just how rare this actually is. There may be people interested in the auction that are not part of the community and therefore not up to speed.

I think it would sure help your cause!

I'm starting off with gaming(magic and yugioh) initially with other hobby themed things. Comics are a goal but I want to grow into them. At least I will be able to have a place to do my pressing an not clutter up my office anymore. lol

I think you made some good choices. My sons and I play MTG to this day. The oldest one travels to St Louis, Indianapolis, and Nashville for pretty good sized tourneys and he has done very well in them. There are guys who make more in a year than I do just playing this game. Nice job if you can get it lol

My youngest pretty much dominates at Yugioh. I think the MTG cards sell better but I have a very small sample size. I hope you do well and get the comic shop up and going. I would love to see some aggressive guys grow this hobby. (thumbs u

I was borderline pro. I qualified twice at two qualifiers years ago but could never go because they were both out of country. I have always liked magic and hope to provide a place for players that offers better prizes for tourneys than the other shops in the area. It's such a joke to play in a tournament of 20 people and only get 50 in store credit. My idea is to give away full value of entry fees as prizes. Tournaments are what drive people to your store and they will buy their supplies and boxes when new releases hit.

Man I think its great in ohio we have a similar store thats been in business for years called the game room we play all manner of board , table , card, and fantasy games there about every week and they also sale comics. So your idea has been done and it obviously works. Make sure you let us know how its goin. Im sure it will be a success!

I think that is a formula for success. The fact that you did that well in the tourneys is fantastic. In the 90s I loved black and Yawgmothed people to death or at least I tried. lol

The last deck I built was a green/ white ramp deck. Probably not even a legal deck but was incredibly fun. My oldest plays blue and has since he was little. Those decks make you want to flip the table lol
