Any one every hear of this comic from the '60s Captain Guts

I do have most of the Captain Guts series in my UG collection (UGs are the one area of the hobby where I'm an enthusiast rather than a dedicated collector like Comicwiz or FD).

It was an interesting if uneven read - I always felt the creator was not only trying to satirize the right wing in the U.S. but also the counterculture. Although Captain Guts was a risible figure, sometimes it seemed as if the writer/artist had a slight sympathy for him. Or perhaps not - I never took the strip too seriously, but it was good fun.

I don't know about the title striking a chord with current events, though - politics have changed since the '60s in the U.S.. Err, haven't they?

I don't have my Underground Price Guide in hand, but I believe there were a couple of pressings of each of the 3 Captain Guts comics. As I recall, an amusing read as a time capsule from the hippie era, but nowhere near as clever as Wonder Warthog. The creator, Larry Welz, went on to greater fame as the man behind Cherry Poptart ( or as the Kellogs people insist, just plain Cherry )
