Now, Guillermo del Toro's $180 million giant robot extravaganza “Pacific Rim" is tracking to open at around $30 million this weekend.

Why? Why can't Hollywood make a solid big monster movie?!

:frustrated:

Aug. 9: Sony TriStar rolls out the Matt Damon-Jodie Foster sci-fi movie “Elysium,” which is tracking at $30 million and building buzz.

Something about this movie has been making me think it is going to be a surprise hit. Damon seems to deliver on most roles he takes on.

IM Global/ Rebellion/ DNA Films REALLY SHOULD have giving the distribution rights of Dredd to Tristar.

I swear the marketing for Elysium has almost been on par with Pacific Rim.

I think 2 Guns will do well. Not blockbuster well, but well enough for a sequel.
