Buncha rebels......taunting the moderators of a comic message board.

I imagined a bunch of bearded black leather jacket wearing dudes sitting at a dirty bar, drinking ale and listening to 'Born to be wild,' while sitting around a laptop...

"GET EM' JOHNNY...GET EM!!!!"

I got wrist slapped for letting the filter spoon stuff out. But you could clearly tell what I was saying.

But you still had to reverse-engineer what you said from the context, right? That's dumb. :screwy:

I think lots of people don't want to hit that button. I know I have to think about it quite a long time before I do, and it's usually for something so outrageous that someone else got there first.

I think you're right, but I also think there are a select few who absolutely love hitting that button. :eyeroll:

I agree. I am still wondering what happened to make my eBay rant thread go poof. I can't imagine anyone getting butthurt enough to hump the button there.

I'd describe what the boards are seeing is a reaction to the cries of "INCONSISTENCY!!! UNFAIRNESS!!! J'ACCUSE!@!" we've had here recently insofar as moderation is concerned.

Generally speaking, rules will start to get more tightly enforced in a group like this which is constantly pushing the envelope on what is and what is not acceptable. And there will be people ready to point out the inconsistency inherent in the system and the Mods will really have no choice but to err on the side of overmoderation. Why risk another five threads about how stupid they are for ignoring notifications? Just ban 'em all and let Arch sort 'em out.

Basically it seems to me that the Forum is getting what it was asking for a couple of weeks ago and there might be some collateral damage along the way. But hey, at least no one is saying the bs word with impunity any longer

I have begun notifying the mods of well-reasoned and logical posts. This is the first. I believe they will appreciate my thoughtfulness.

Can you add to that, the totally illogical posts where people deliberately mask because their friends got in trouble?

I can understand posting a rational statement about why you think it was wrong, but yelling, "HEY MODS, COME GET ME TOO" reminds me of those old war movies I never liked where the hero's buddies ran out and got shot.

Of course they were actors, so they weren't really getting shot and a week off the boards is not the electric chair, but still;)

Although I think the moderation has been super strict recently, my intentional masking did make the point I was trying to make. It was not "HEY MODS, COME GET ME TOO"

They may now be heavy handed but I felt they were at the point that they would only respond to porn and when twenty people hit the button. My point was highlighting that fact if you actually read my post and not just the masking part.

Man I wish I would have worded it that way. :foryou:

Then it would've been two people who didn't mean it lol

It was only 20% for the street cred and 75% righteousness.

What about the other 5%?

hm

Do a search for the "eBay drank my milkshake" thread and post your story in there. No need for a new thread.
