The lower spine corner prevents 9.8 (VERY slight abrasion visible front and back), but unfortunately the (grease?) stain prevents 9.6 also.

 

9.4 tops

Could be 9.2 if that stain migrates. If no stain (scanner?), then 9.4

I think that more than staining, this might be printing ink – very common with late 1980s Marvel books.

I’m with a 9.2/9.4 as well, these look really pretty to be downgraded to VFNMs, it all depends if they have small spine ticks or not, and how many.
